I just want to say that I learned a lot playing the Epic and also reading these reports. I have already adapted some better strategy in my own games.
On a personal note, I am inspired to make even better reports the next time around as I personally found my report lacking after reading such great reports from all of you. Thank you.

I agree on learning a lot (both playing and reading). And for the kudos for many of the great reports.
I'd like to add a big thanks to all those who reported losses. It's often hard to do that, and we got a bunch of them for Epic 1. That's a great way to learn -- like just how bad it is to neglect military in some instances. And, in other instances, how to recover from a really bad-looking situation.

Speaking of which... I'm just about ready to post the first part of my report.

But you're Soren! You aren't allowed to lose! Does this mean the end of the universe as we know it?!?

No, I'm not Soren.
Was that a Freudian typo?

Really, did all of you need to pick names that start with S? Driving my sleep-deprived holiday-stressed brain nuts.

I think Soren's mom picked that one.
As to my name, I've had this nickname since the dawn of internet gaming. Been "Sirian" as my gaming persona since internet gaming existed. (I'm the original, too. Some folks here or there have picked up the nick, but I got to it first, and I got there by a unique route, too long of a story to tell here.)
Now as to whether "Sirian" sounds so much like "Soren" that it subconsciously affected Soren's judgement, I can't say. (Probably not, though. You never met a more practical guy than Soren. Meanwhile, I'm a complete loon. We have things in common, but... probably a relative minority of things. We do both like a wide variety of music, though!)
As for all the S names around RB land... Who knows. One of life's great mysteries. Maybe Sulla, Sirp, Speaker, Smegged, or SoulEdge has an answer for you. If not, you can ask one of the other couple dozen.

I was just about to start an Epic 1 lessons learned thread, but this looks like a good place
My lessons were two-fold: 1. Build More Military , and 2. Be more aggressive in border expansion.
In Epic 1, #2 was the primary factor in my loss. I expanded south and west rather than east. This left a strong Monty and Genghis, and I could only watch as my cities burned.

I didn't make a report, which I'll do while playing next time. I also deleted my saved game on last reinstall. But here's the jist.
Out of the gates, guessed that I could lock off the east with culture. guessed right. (everyone was coming from the west.)
Spent most of the early game with 2 cities. Barbs, and attack caravans from... whatever civ was on the other side of the map.
Was so down, never thought i'd recover. Spent the rest of the game recovering. lost to the space race after finally making it into first place in score from being more than half down from the second to last player for most of the game.
Learned that you can come back in a game. That having 2 cities for most of the game is not good, heh.
Jungle sucks sometimes. Gotta watch out for those space racers. I ended up taking a ton of land from the other players, which was a first for me. I never attack in games, but the french UU was pretty awesome, and I was about sick and tired of being picked on all game.
Last interesting note. I was trying to win the game with UN at the end, someone asked me to break my defensive pact with the score leader (ghandi) and I did in the hopes of securing the last vote. I was just short over and over for the votes, and just needed one more. (he was the other in the un votes)
1 turn after breaking the pact by request, the civ that requested attacked me and that's how I got so much land, but without that, I think I may have been able to win.
Good game though.
