LEADER/CIV:
The process voted on to use for leader/civ generation is as follows:
Quote:Day 1 - generate 17 random pairings and post in team threads. Team responds yea or nay. Yea leaders/civs are removed.
Day 2 - repeat for all nay teams. Again, yeas are removed.
Day 3 - double nay teams are auto-assigned
Your first generated Leader/Civ combination is:
Huayna Capac of Spain
Please state in bold in your thread whether you want to keep or reroll this combination. If you do not keep it, you can have up to 2 more combinations generated for you.

HC (Fin,Ind) of Spain (Fishing,Mysticism) (Citadel,Conquistador)
Reasoning:
*I should refuse only if I judge the pick to be below average. Spain is weak, but without seeing the start, Civ selection is a gamble anyway. Overall pick looks fine to me.
Thing I like most about this combo:
*The seafaring civ option. Ideally, I have a coastal start. An Oracle/Colossus opening is strong.

Hi suttree,
how do you feel about your pick now that you have seen all of the selections?

I regret not rerolling - only dtay and Serdoa got stuck with a crap civ.
Mansa Musa is awesome, so I guess I rank myself second last.
A great deal will depend on my start. If I'm landlocked, I will fall behind. If I have a coastal start, I think I can leverage my traits and techs into a strong position. I'll wait for the start before whingeing about my poor decision making.

Assuming all water is salt, scout moves 4-1. If seafood then settle T1 2-2 or 2-1 of the settler. If not, T0 settler moves 3-9. If seafood, settles T1. If not, settles the plains hill T2.
Ideal opening is to build a workboat while researching mining. Worker. Mine the sheep while researching BW. Chop out a second city and pop borders with Meditation. Hunting, Priesthood, Oracle.
