[SPOILERS] The Return of the Angel King

Alexander of Carthage, huh. And here I was planning a new peaceful way to play. Way to throw a wrench in my plans, RNGesus. It's a fun combo in RB mod, cheap barracks are nice to have since they've been changed to be more expensive and to grant culture. Cheap barracks, cheap stables, and Numidian Cavalry with 6 STR and a free Combat I is some nice synergy for creating a badass mounted army. What kind of a person would I be if I denied myself and the lurkers of this awesome chance to wage war wink So yeah, I'm not going to reroll this pick. I doubt I could get anything better or more fun in return. I'll play the cards I was dealt with, even if I was planning a different kind of game before-hand. I can't promise for sure that there'll be blood.. It will depend on the circumstances, but I will definitely attempt to leverage my civ and traits to my advantage.

I think this is the first game I've been in where half of player threads will be down on page 2, so expect more frequent updates and spam neenerneener
We must fight hard for the attention of the three lurkers this game will have.

Hah smile I'll check out his thread, already got recommendations for it! I hope the thing about uniques is that they're also a good deterrent. That's what I was referring to on my post about circumstances. Numidian Cavalry will definitely get built if I happen to own horses, but whether I'll attack with them is another thing. Sure, if you have an Aggressive Carthage in RB mod, it would be ideal to use that to conquer a neighbor, but there's not always going to be an opportunity to do that. There would have to exist a chance for me to make big gains and cripple my opponent so badly that I don't have to worry about them striking back at me. Only then it would be wise to attack. That might not happen, in which case those units would act as a deterrent against those who would want to attack me. And if they still decide to take a swing at me, then the units will be used in battle against the invaders. That's the plan right now, but I'll give Commodore's thread a read.

+100% production of Barracks and Stables. And Numidian Cavalry in RB mod are Horse Archers with a free C1 promotion. So if I've got this correct, you will get HA's with 3 promos out of the gate from cities with Barracks and Stables smile
I'm going to play around with it in test games to find out just how strong they are. First test game sadly didn't have any early horses, but I'll play a few more.

Wow. They do get the promos, and they are absolutely terrifying in the battlefield. They can do some real damage before longbows and pikes. They are at their scariest when catching someone off guard, blitzing through cities before the enemy can whip up an army. However, conjuring up a stack of Numidian Cavalry without alerting our target in a Pitboss environment is problematic. But with the competition being so tough, we might just see someone risk it and go full farmers gambit. I'm going to try these against harder AI next :P
