[SPOILERS] The Rise and Fall of Whositania (all glory to Whositania!)

I don't really have anything interesting to put here. This is just the thread in which I will occasionally update my progress on the race to the bottom.

I asked for a reroll so I don't even know what combo I've got! Can't even start to speculate, sadly. Might have some stuff to mumble about later, though.

Alright, looks like I rerolled Hammurabi of the Vikings. Is that better than Suleiman of the Americans? I dunno about the leader, I was hoping to nab one of the Spiritual or Creative leaders, but the Vikings are better than the Americans. Kind of a shame about the Trading Post nerf, though. I guess I understand it, but free Flanking I is kind of lame, in my opinion.

Looking at some of the other rerolls, though, poor Ruff! Augustus of America... at least it wasn't me!

Anyway, presuming I don't get to keep rerolling until I get something I want.... I think Hammurabi of the Vikings isn't a terrible combo, and probably something I can have fun with if I play it right. I think there's good synergy: Aggressive Berserkers (and Agg units in general) plus cheap Trading Posts... although Trading Posts are nerfed so bad. I'll have to run Vassalage or Theocracy to make use of them early on, I think. I'll need a couple XP to actually get Navigation 1 from the Flanking bonus. Still, assuming we have some water and I can make it to the middle ages, I can have some naval fun.

I like the RB mod Aggressive well enough; I don't have to build Monuments and I can build a Barracks everywhere instead. I don't know if Organized will be terribly useful, but this is a massive map, and I don't know how much things have been modded for upkeep. At the very least I can run more expensive civics and get Courthouses built more quickly. However, I don't think I really have any economic oomph anywhere. No Financial or Philosophical to directly boost my GNP, no Expansive or even the Imperialistic I gave up for faster Worker/Settler production. I'm going to be slow starting.

Not even going to try to analyze the other players and their combos. It does look like some people have some nice combos and interesting combos.

As for me? I think in this game I am going to have to focus and not get side-tracked like I do in many of my games. No Wonders, nothing cute, no religion chasing, etc. Just grab all the land I can, hold it with AGG defenders, try to get an edge in the middle ages to maybe grab some more land, and then just hold it. I don't plan on making any sandboxes because I really don't have the time. Sometimes if I play from the gut I do OK, though.

PASSWORD EDIT:
I know I put the password somewhere else in here, but someone suggested post 2, so:

Agg/Org is great. I think you're underestimating Org a bit. It's a top tier trait in RBMod IMO.

I don't doubt that I'm underestimating it. I don't play ORG civs a lot, so I'm not really sure what to do to make the trait shine as brightly as it can. At the very least, I like the thematic combination of Agg/Org. Iron-fisted ruler!

I think I will attempt to analyze opponents as I meet them. Doing anything more than that would be madness.

I am Aggressive and Organized, and the Norsemen start with Fishing and Hunting, I believe. Not particularly strong, I think, but at least Hunting is buffed now. Hoping for a coastal start. My usual opening plan is to get any food techs I need, then get Mining > Bronze Working and then head in the direction of Pottery. I'll probably be ignoring the religion techs and the upper branch wonder techs. It seems most sensible to get to Code of Laws via Currency if I'm not going to make any sort of religion play. If I ever get a religion spread, I may want Theocracy, but that's a ways down the road.

Can't really plan much else, but I think I can see myself pursuing one of two possible vague options. One: If I have reason to believe that one of my close neighbors won't have metal quickly, rush them with AGG melee units. Two: Chop/Whip out as many Settlers as I can, establish a Barracks camp early, and stuff my border cities full of AGG defending units and snap up all the land I can fast, and then limp to CoL so I can sustain myself. Is there a third option out there? (Besides sucking, anyway.) I guess I will have to discover that for myself.

Ah ha ha ha ha... hope I'm not aiming too high, then! I might have a chance if one of the top tier players isn't in my local cluster or something.

Hmm... so my dear lurker(s), which of the "player awards" should I strive for? And don't tell me to go for my own! nono
