The techical preview of Windows 10 can be downloaded from here.
worth mentioning that Windows 10 is claimed to be a unified OS. it is available on desktops, notebooks, tables and smartphones.
anyone tried it?
any point in upgrading from 7/8 ?

It isn't truly unified though, is it? My understanding is it will have the ability to offer versions of titles to run on all types of platforms, but the actual code will be unique across versions.

I'm puzzled by early adapters Cornflakes, haven't ms (and Apple and firaxis and everyone else) shown that the first version of anything new is likely to be a bug-ridden time-sink? What's the attraction?

It is supposed to a unified API so the APIs are the same across all devices for Metro style apps.
So you can sell your app across XBone, WinPhone, Windows Desktop, Windows Tablet etc by submitting it to the store.

I personally enjoy testing for bugs and trying to break things. The university that I graduated from was one of the first to adopt the "Canvas" system for administering courses, and I spent hours trying out all of the different features and trying to make them break. I submitted about 2-dozen service requests over the first semester, and two or three of those were major bugs that were addressed immediately and a couple other suggestions were implemented in later versions on the website. I just find it fun I guess, and illustrate the service requests with marked-up screenshots like my civ report screenshots.
I only use Civ 4, Excel, Chrome, and Minesweeper regularly on my laptop and if it crashes it's not really a big deal to me. I have no important files to worry about losing. The biggest negative is that the hard drive placement in the laptop was absolutely terrible design as I have to remove almost everything including motherboard and screen to get to it, otherwise I'd just put windows 10 on a separate HD and swap back and forth if needed.
Is it easy to split hard drive and make two independent and bootable partitions? (I think partition is the right word).

I might look into those. A friend beat me to the Windows 10 and told me that it was not worth the hassle so I decided not to go for it. But if I can figure out how to set it up on an independent partition then I will ... assuming that I find the time, of course.

You might also want to use EasyBCD for a boot menu.
I have finally decided to put down some cash and register a website. It is www.ruffhi.com. Now I remain free to move the hosting options without having to change the name of the site.
