Earliest raiders?

What turn are raiders allowed to be generated? I thought they didn't arrive until turn 50. Yet it just happened that raiders appeared on the map in January 1401. Two klackon halberdiers six steps away from my capital...and I only have the starting swordsmen and spearmen. I'm going to lose the game and it hasn't even started. banghead

Yeah, I managed to build two more high men swordsmen before they got there, but they killed 2 and I only survived by having Zaldron do the 50-turn shuffle. 2 pop killed by rampaging through the town. Totally unfair. Then they were still there outside the city?! I thought raiders were gone when you ran away from them. City fell on the next turn, game over.

Wow, that's weird. They normally disappear in that case. Maybe there was a second, identical stack arriving right after the battle (sounds unlikely)?

Hmm from what I see here, it adds a random amount to a variable, based on difficulty. If the variable exceeds 30 it attempts to generate a raider. At max difficulty (4), this means earliest possible is turn 6 if all rolls are the maximal 5. On lowest difficulty, it would be turn 30.

Turn 50 is for rampaging monsters, not raiders.
