OK, I submitted my picks to Qgqqqqq & asked for 1. Pacal, 1. Willem, 3. Mehmed & 4. Darius
Hopefully I'll get my first pick as its kind of an anagram of Palace, but Willem will fit with the theme too as the Mighty Eagles have had at least 1 Dutch player.
Yes, it's a Palace theme again, for Workers (Managers; going back in time - is 34 enough?) and Units (Players; starting with legends, who weren't managers, then the current squad, followed by random picks over the decades - 64 so far!)
For cities, I'm using members of my favourite band, Status Quo - there are 13 with all the drummers over the years! If I need more then I'll move on to Queen, then Showaddywaddy, that should be enough.

Or should I go with Quo tracks? That would give me over 40 options .. hmmm.

Quote:Bob is Pacal.
Sian is Darius.
Khan is Asoka.
GE is Willem.
OK, didn't get Pacal, but as I stated Willem's fine (he's Oranje - ginger, geddit?) .. Fin/Cre should mean I don't have to worry about the rush to religion.
I start with Fishing & Agriculture so food shouldn't be a problem. I can tech Pottery then Mining & Bronze Working, then go back for The Wheel.
I'll look for water as soon as possible. Hope to be on the coast or a river/lake for a start. If i find a river, I'll follow it to find the coast. I know I stated
Quote:as long as there's plenty of viable city sites, and not too many little islands, I'm happy
if there's a series of reasonable size ones, that's good for me!
My aim, turtle-down, cottage everywhere plausible, build & tech like mad before anyone finds me.

OK, I'm going with Status Quo song titles; gives more options. Only snag, no-one better accuse me of deliberately naming cities to send messages if I happen to settle a border city called "Whatever You Want" or "What You're Proposing" or even "I Didn't Mean It" if they're next in the discography!

I'm looking forward to hearing of the exploits of Eddie McGoldrick and Clinton Morrison (a player I believe to be very much under appreciated here in Ireland).

as neither of them made the all-time legends team, they will both be late game .. either tanks or east indiamen .. but they are both on my current list before I have to trawl the Crystal Palace wiki for more names.

I was about to turn off my pc & go to bed when the turn arrived ....
Dammit!! Was hoping for a coastal start!!!!
I'm fully aware i should be rubbing my hands & jumping about with glee at those flood plains, but I'm in a quandary.
Do I settle "I Who Have Nothing" where I am with wheat & corn (both wet) in the bfc and risk an early settler for "We Ain't Got Nothing Yet" for the wet rice & crabs to the west?
Tech plan would be The Wheel -> Pottery -> Animal Husbandry

OK, made a decision. Could be a bad one as I'm tired, but anyway ...
... decide to move 1 south, makes settling to the west of the pigs easier for the 3rd city

Just realised the song titles can get cumbersome & not fit .. will have a rethink on the naming scheme
