I guess now would be a perfect time to start taking a look at the changelog?
This could be a painful game for me. I need to adapt to a different playstyle, and I pretty much have no idea what I'm doing for the most part. But I'll take it easy and enjoy the ride as long as it lasts.
Some stupid questions to start with: Snake pick here means I get to choose leader OR civ first? Wait... was this even unrestricted leaders to start with actually? If it is not, do I choose number of civs (5?) and send them to mapmaker?
Anyway, the starting pic is going to affect my pick(s) a lot.
GJ's tool has edited everything outside the BFC to water, so I feel I should clarify; the water tile west of the marble is a lake, hence the wheat is irrigated. The fish is in salt water.

Unrestricted leaders is generally assumed on unless stated otherwise for BTS. In a snake pick each player will be given a number 1-4 and then players may pick one of either civ or leader in the order 12344321. FFH boggle methods are rare.
Regarding the picking method... yes, I should've probably figured that out considering those BTS games I've followed. I guess I'm just too used to FFH.
Anyway, that's looking like a pretty dry start. Though, there are 2 decent food tiles, so that's good I guess. Starting with either Fishing/Agri seems very useful, maybe even mandatory. Having a Mining from the get-go would be good too since the worker will be useless after improving the Wheat otherwise. Ok maybe not if the worker will road towards 2nd city but yeah... China Mining/Agri seems pretty strong there. That's only considering the starting techs though...
Hey, one question again. Can I run my own sims with that file? I mean, can I change the civ somehow as it now seems to be set to India (unless I edit the file in notepad, I guess that could work). Or do I have to create my owns sim manually if I were to use a different civ?
EDIT: NM, the file is with different settings etc. (also bug mod), so I'd need to create my own sim.
Okay, so I get my 1st pick last but then I get to choose civ/leader right after (doesn't matter which in my case obv). I'm not certain I wanted to be in the middle but at least then I can take the civ I want for the particular leader. From those there are left. Maybe not totally worthless... Still, I'm assuming the awesome civs will be chosen first considering the start.
Actually a civ starting with Fishing is what I want as I really should build a WB first (which is built with foodhammers here). After that worker can be built faster while researching Agri at the same time... EXP leader could build workboat here very fast actually.

It should work that if you save the file to the Worldbuilder directory then you can start it as a Single Player scenario.
The notepad file can be edited to change civs - note you need to change the leader, civ, and starting techs to get everything correct.
Thanks, Dreylin! I will definitely try out the SP scenario.
EDIT: Hmm, apparently that doesn't seem to be working. In fact, it crashes the civ and the file doesn't open from the scenario list. Could that be because the file has been made with BUG Mod?
Joao II of Portuguese it is. Did I forget tis was unrestricted leaders? Maybe .
Well, IMP/EXP seem like a good traits here, lots of early hammers from mines. Maybe I can put those hammers quickly enough to something useful. Workers and Settlers are definitely needed, quick REXing means more cities which is good overall - if not for anything else then at least whipping an army for myself.
I didn't really have a good thoughts regarding the civ. I wanted Fishing but found out that you don't even need that to build a WB. Portuguese has a decent caravel which could become handy if the map is watery enough with some nice islands. I also believe that their unique building Feitoria (Custom House) can build double speed with IMP or is this only true for Custom Houses?
