It's a clever clue, if people are familiar with the reference
Suffer Game Sicko

And unfortunately it seems they are not.
Surprise! Turns out I'm a girl!

I got the reference but I am still not 100% sure on what the answer is.

Ner'Zhul was an Orc Shaman who led the Orcs and later became a warlock. He was eventually trapped inside a crown and merged with Arthas to become the Lich King (leader of undead). CROWN is obvious. He used to CAST spells? When Orcs become corrupted by demonic magic, they often have SCALEs? Don't think he ever was scaly though. A Shaman is a witch DOCTOR of sorts? CAST is probably the strongest second word I see but I can think of many words that clue those two without using a really obscure reference. It's not even really a World of Warcraft reference. It's from Warcraft 3 and it's expansion. I doubt the typical WoW player would know who he was.

Surprised no mention of BALL as in the black tie formal event

They don't need to go that way. They got to Ball by way of disco, especially with Glass also on the board.

Can anyone explain the COVER connection to a simpleminded fool?

Often various venues have an entry or COVER charge to get in

It seems a little unlikely to me to cue nightlife without intending the pun. The spymaster could be missing the possibly false connections but it's more likely that he has considered them. So I'd be looking to guess some combination of words connected to nocturnal animals and to night-time entertainment. In other words, I'd be strongly considering CAT and BAT.
If you know what I mean.
