Master of Magic Facebook, Reddit & Discord Groups

Hey guys, with many of the great old MoM forums out there disappearing or slowing down I've recently created a Master of Magic facebook group for fans to come and discuss all things MoM related like spiritual sequels (like Age of Wonders, Fallen Enchantress, Endless Legend etc),  and support MoM related fan projects like (like the various MoM Patches, MoM-Implode's Multiplayer Edition HD, Leylines etc) eg posting important news , fan art and demo announcements etc.
 
It's very sad visiting the various old MoM forums and seeing so much activity in the past yet so little now (seems like Realms Beyond is the only good one left!). It sucks that social media has crushed all the good old forums out there but it is what it is and a social media page could bring in fans of all the long lost communities back together again. Plus if more forums go down again at least the facebook page would live on keeping the MoM community alive and attracting new members and new support for the fan projects.
 
I'm a member of some great retro gaming and tv show discussion groups where topics are posted almost daily leading to massive conversations about things that are 20+years old now lol! It's about time Master of Magic had a place in social media for fans to discuss all things MoM related too! So in the end I decided to make my own as over the years I've created groups for other ageing classics like Starflight, Freelancer, and Sid Meier's Colonization which have been going quite well and have grown into nice little communities.

No fragmenting, more of a backup actually.

I'm a big Starflight fan as well and in 2015 the forum community was in bad shape. 3 of the big 5 forums from the 2000s were gone and the 2 left weren't looking too good either. As a passionate SF fan I didn't want what was left of the community to die off especially as they were working on the Starflight 3 fan game (a pipe dream but a good one) so I created a Starflight facebook group and invited all to drop by and sign up as a backup.

Much like you there were several people who said they didn't have fb or that it was evil etc lol. Well.. those guys are gone now.. lost forever.. we don't know where they are now.. as this year the last of the SF forums went down and the fb group was all we had left. Fortunately most of the community had signed up by then. Just recently we hit the 100 members mark and were able to get together as a community on there and get in contact with the admin of the old SF3 site to get him to bring the forums back online and even get the SF3 project going again. Without the fb group, that probably wouldn't have happened and the forum would have just disappeared into oblivion along with the other SF forums. Sadly these days forums come and go all the time but fortunately facebook (like it or hate it) is not going anywhere and its a cool tool for keeping fan communities going. The other cool thing is that new people or old members who hadn't visted the forums in years found the facebook group just by doing a fb or google search for starflight and then used my forums links on the fb group page to go and sign up at the forums or return to their ancient forum accounts when they saw some life back there. We had one guy appear who no one had seen on the forums in 10years show up at the fb page lol!

Fortunately Realms Beyond is in much better shape than the SF forums but it really feels like a lone remaining beacon of a once massive MoM community stretching across many forums. As a massive MoM fan I really don't want visit this place one day to say hi or to get one of the awesome fan patches only to find dead link and no explanations.

No one should leave or replace this place with anywhere else, but I certainly think it would be handy for those who can to join the FB group as a backup and as a fun place to do things that are difficult to do on a forum.
