"Superdeath seems to have acquired a rep for aggression somehow. In this game that's going to help us because he's going to go to the negotiating table with twitchy eyes and slightly too wide a grin and terrify the neighbors into favorable border agreements, one-sided tech deals and staggered NAPs."

once the game gets going, i should be able to write up an ok "report", expect alot of screenshots and " what i THINK " is happening. I know next to nothing about multiplayer civ and i do expect to be eliminated early, i know roughly the leader i want, but the civilization is open.

Here are the choices we rolled for you - when you've decided whether to keep the civ or reroll it, and which (if either) of the leaders you want to keep, post the inforrmation here to let us know.
Options:
Churchill (Cha/Pro)
Mao (Exp/Pro)
Native Americans
Your start:
The essential form of the BFC may be relied upon, though we might still make superficial changes e.g. to whether the trees are deciduous, conifers, or snowy, and we might imaginably even rotate the whole thing 90 degrees or something since the surrounding terrain is still being finalized. The corner tiles may yet change, and the fog is a fabric of lies, but at least you've got your start!

my real thoughts about my leader/civ combo i chose is quite simple and also fairly noobish. i plan on using the heavily promoted archers/longbowmen to keep early/mid rush's at bay. With the UU used for a potential rush if the opp presents itself. Cha is likely not high on the list of great traits, but i picked it due to the happyness bonus. The -less promotion exp needed wasnt a huge factor for me, however after reading some of pb37's threads... its apparently alot bigger issue, especially for navel combat which i have absolutely no experience with.
Protective being a much better trait in RtR made it a no-brainer for me to grab it. Although if i could have chosen my leader from any of them, i would have went with Khan (cha, cre). Native america is not one of my top picks for civilization, at all.. but fearing i would recieve a really bad scrap from the leftover pool... i decided to keep it and use the synergy of cha+pro+UB to be a pain in the ass to be attacked till gunpowder or so.
a little bit about me as a player-
highest difficulty completed = emp.
normal difficulty played on = monarch
favorite non-RtR civ/leader pair= Hannibal of persia.
i generally in the multiplayer and single player games ive won, i snowball from a HA/knight/other mounted rush into a leading position and then swarm the rest of the map with cavs. While a great strategy in single player, and in matches vs less skilled players.. i have my doubts that it would be a good idea in this game. My idea for this game is to build peacefully but with plenty of military to 7-15 cities ( however big the map/space is ) before engaging in any particular plan. If i see an opportunity to engage a neighbor in an easy war i will take it immediately. Taking my civ/leader combo means i should be safe from early rushes... should.
as far as naming cities/units, i have several ideas. ( i wont be naming units most likely ) for cities im torn between names of games ive played, and books ive read. if any random lurker has a better idea id love to hear it. ( not that i expect any lurkers in this thread ;p )

as far as tech path. hunting- then either mining->bronze. or AH-> mining->bronze. atm im leaning for the former. the land is WAY more lush than i had anticipated, well at least the starting area. If the rest of the map is this great i wont know what to do with half of the production/food ill be taking in.

worker-warrior-...warrior? or possibly worker-warrior-worker depending on how quickly the city grows.

1) dtay - Genghis Khan (Agg/Imp) of Celtia - not terribly worried about the civ, but the player is to be watched like a hawk.
3) Mr. Cairo - Saladin (Pro/Spi) of Russia - likely to try weird things with spiritual. / watch for changing civics.
4) B4ndit - Zara Yaqob (Cre/Org) of Sumeria - not worried.
5) Rusten - Cyrus (Cha/Imp) of Arabia - could be a problem, but due to the likely lushness of the map... not worried.
6) Donovan Zoi - Pacal (Exp/Fin) of Maya - always hated playing aganist maya. Always.
7) Gavagai - Mehmed (Exp/Org) of Egypt - please dont be near me.
8) Shallow Old Human Tourist - Augustus (Imp/Ind) of Persia - Immortals, nuff said.
9) GermanJoey - Charlemagne (Imp/Pro) of Mongolia - keshiks can be pretty deadly. keep eye out.
10) Dreylin - Roosevelt (Ind/Org) of the Vikings - not worried.
11) OT4E and Chumchu - Qin Shi Huang (Ind/Pro) of Carthage - kill during early-mid. / not worried.
12) Dark Savant - Joao (Exp/Imp) of Byzantium - could be trouble. RTR byzantium is nerfed however.
13) 2metraninja - Napoleon (Cha/Org) of the Aztecs - dont have a clue.
14) Mackoti - Suleiman (Imp/Phi) of France - dangerous
15) The Black Sword - Pericles (Cre/Phi) of Zulu - great civ, with a meh leader. could be fun.
16) AdrienIer - Mao (Exp/Pro) of Mali - avoid attacking.
17) Pindicator - Hammurabi (Agg/Org) of China - UU can be a pain, dont get involved in the mid-game.
18) WilliamLP - Tokugawa (Agg/Pro) of Japan - all sorts of fun. japan the civ is really meh imo.
19) Commodore - Kublai Khan (Cha/Cre) of Rome - my favorite RTR leader, playing a powerhouse civ, watch out.
20) naufrager - Julius Caesar (Imp/Org) of Germany - not really scared.
21) plako - Justinian (Imp/Spi) of Inca - interesting choice, will have to watch.
22) elkad - Shaka (Agg/Exp) of Korea - not a terrible combo, but not scared.
23) spacetyrantxenu - Hatshepsut (Cre/Spi) of Greece - just plain awful imo, will likely make up for it via great play.
24) Boldly Going Nowhere - Boudica (Agg/Cha) of Khmer - khmer is meh, boudica is leadfoot aggression, stay out of the path.
25) Aretas - Ragnar (Agg/Fin) of Holy Rome - very ehhh.

Hi, here's your MapCad-generated sandbox to help you plan your opening. You'll need to have RtR 2.0.8.4 installed. If something doesn't work as it should, let me know.

Thanks, finally got a chance to do some testing.
