Yet another way to get MoO to run

Hi,

running MoO in the XP compatibility mode works for me, but only with some glitches: Animation speed varies from way too fast to way too slow for example, and I have no idea why. I took a quick look at Isit's DOSBox document, but without reading much, it looked like it would only be useful for faster computers than mine (Athlon 500), and seems to need a lot of work and patience to configure it correctly.

So since I'm running Linux for most of the things I do anyway, I tried to run the game with DOSEmu - and it worked without any need to configure it in any way! I just downloaded the latest RPM file, installed them, copied the MoO files into the FreeDOS folder, started xdosemu, and played. Due to my old machine the game runs a bit slower than usual, especially during combat, but at least the animations run at the same speed at all times which helps me a lot. It can be played both in full screen or windowed mode, and quickly changing into windowed mode by hitting ALT-CTRL-F makes it very easy to take screenshots, with xv for example.

I guess most people here want to play their games using Windows, but if there are others like me with a running Linux system who are searching for a fast and easy way to run the game, I recommend giving dosemu a try!

EDIT: And while it runs fine without having to configure anything, I just found out that you can speed it up a bit by setting the "hogthreshold" variable to 0 in the .dosemu.config file...
