To entice play to the end until the score is given, perhaps the logic by which the remaining AIs surrender should make it a bit easier?
Here is my present game, where the lone AI has 2 cities, I just killed their last doomstack of heroes, and I have cities dotted all over both planes. The bigger city has her fortress, she just came back from banishment. She also has practically 0 gold or mp left.
