This time around everyone shoots himself in the foot by taking one of the following civs:
Norway (4)
Phoenicia (4)
Eleanore (France or England) (4)
Sweden (4)
Kongo (4)
Spain (4)
Georgia (4)
Canada (4)
Brazil (3)
Egypt (3)

As you can see a broad consensus that those civs suck.

Our roll is

Norway or Georgia. The joy. I can also forfeit both and hope for the second pick of discarded civs.

So I do not know what the choice of the others will be which are likely discards?

Norway (4)
Phoenicia (4)
Eleanore (France or England) (4)
Sweden (4)
Kongo (4)
Spain (4)
Georgia (4)
Canada (4)
Brazil (3)
Egypt (3)

So I got Norway and Georgia.

I am pretty confident that whilst Carthage is not that good, its unique district will prove tempting.
Eleanore of England has the unique district as well but terrible boni. Likely discard.
Sweden is a civ of nightmares. Except for the dip favour of GP which means congress domination. Sure discard.
Kongo will be taken, it is not that good in a competitive MP environment but with so many blind civs the one eyed civ is King.
Same with Spain, it sucks in normal MP games, it could be decent here.
Canada, the stuff of nightmares.
Brazil is just not that good, but as with Spain and Kongo, it is somewhat okish with the other civs around.
I think Cleopatra will be taken as well.

So I think that hoping for a 2nd round is not that good.

So let´s check out Norway and Georgia.

I think you expected a long passage comparing the pros and cons of Norway and Georgia.

Think again, both are atrocious choices. Norway with the pillaging ban on CS and Pangea is quite useless.
Georgia is by far one of the worst civs there is. Yes you can get a dedication bonus in golden ages, but that is it.

I may cry if I get Canada and Sweden as 2nd round discard, but Egypt, Brazil, Kongo, Spain and Phoenicia are all better choices.

DISCARD.

Reroll.

Your second-round civilizations are

SWEDEN
or
CANADA

You must select one of these to play.

(I am so, so sorry about the way the dice broke on this.)

Deep breath.

Shout no. Loudly.

Another deep breath.

Embrace the challenge?

I'd love to see a game of Civ VI GS that didn't involve rage/boredon quits, but I'm not sure how much I could actually blame you here shakehead .

Well, to be frank, both civs boni are so bad and come in so late that I could actually throw a coin and choose the civ.

Thankfully the inability of Canada to conquer CS is SOO freaking bad, that I would not recommend it over Sweden.

Make no mistake I think both civs are quite usless. The question is if playing "non-descript" Civ 4798 makes for a fun PBEM..

So, there is also the +1 GS for universities for Sweden.

Although I am tempted to play Canada just as a added handicap.smile
