Heads up people. Much like the existing Guildwiki, the Official Guild Wars Wiki looks set to become a thriving community resource.
![]() GW official wiki Wrote:Guild Wars 2 will introduce playable races other than human. The four new playable races announced so far are: The new wiki looks more informative than the former, at least on incoming stuff. ![]() The thing I don't like of GW2 is making less easier skills, which have different effects in different situations: as I understand it, it's a shift toward first-person shooters... less strategy, more action? I hope I'm wrong ![]()

My English has to improve. A lot.
That "new" information about GW2 is just propoganda, which the existing wiki probably won't put up because it's not an actual game (or part of a game) yet.
Imo, an official GW site for info and crap like that is something I might have cared about 2 years ago. I may just be overly cynical, but this seems like nothing more than another ANet "we're too lazy to do it ourselves but now that a non-dev community has done this and shown it's a success we have no problem copying the idea" propoganda piece. It's not even an official web site, it's a wiki which means they're still expecting the fans to do most of the work.

My guess is that skills will have special effects associated with various states much like the way some skills already exist. Think of skills like Arc Lightning. It hits a foe for lightning damage and if they're under the effects of a water hex then it hits additional targets. I would think that the new system will be something like that, where skills have base effects and then additional effects if you're in the air or are surrounded or whatever.

Supposedly, AN wants to incorporate the data/information available from such Wiki site into the game, or games (GW2). A player would be able to search for information he needs in game. A great feature if that happens.
According to AN, they did approach GuildWiki and see if they can work out a deal, however, two major obstacles prevented the joint venture. First, GuildWiki shows ads that AN does not approve of. Nothing a little money cannot solve, The main reason is that GuildWiki uses a Wiki license that does not allow any commercial usage. I am too lazy to check out details of Wiki licensing so I chose to take AN's words for it - And since all the data is submitted for non commercial use, each author has to (re)authorize all their contributions (if that can be done at all). Essentially, it's starting all over again, and that's what AN did. Note that contributors to the GuildWiki can submit/transfer their articles (from GuildWiki) to the official wiki with no legal restrictions. KoP |
