What's your favourite game soundtrack ?

Civ IV and V as runners up.

Homeworld was very good, appropriate to the setting and story of the game. I also like the HW2 battle music (so much that I've some of the tracks on my MP3).

Another game with good music for me was Deus Ex. It fit the mood of the game perfectly, sinister, apocalyptic and paranoid. The intro cutscene is also pretty epic (assuming you don't mind the lack of lip-syncing).

I liked the music to 'defender of the crown'. So much thats after winning the game I'd sit in front of the screen for 3-4-5 minutes while final song played out.

I also liked music to arcade game "double dragon". And had a laugh out of this, while searching for soundtrack on youtube:
Live Double Dragon.
You need to have played the game to get it, otherwise just looks very corny and fake...

Agree that civ IV original theme is great.

I love the Suikoden soundtracks. I often spend hours on YouTube listening to them.
Sometimes I find years old comments by myself in the comment section.

Here's two:

Also, Mass Effect. One of the few video game series these days that can get you emotionally attached.
The mind blowing soundtrack has a huge part in it:

My Glourious Days from the Rance Series (which is rated M with mass X-rated scenes, but a surprisingly good plot and gameplay so it doesn't need the scenes to be a great game) ... rock version of DDR Anthem, whats not to like?

I have fond memories of the soundtracks from MechWarrior 2 and MechWarrior 2: Mercenaries.

Both were quite distinct. MechWarrior 2 had haunting synthesizer music that worked eerily against the hulking BattleMechs battling it out on distant Periphery worlds. Mercenaries by contrast had was more industrial, and the driving rhythms played well with the gritty Inner Sphere campaign.
