Settle the GP and use the additional 5 money to research quicker. Get Machinery without bulbing.

No, I did not get the Great Lighthouse, I did not try to get it and I don't think it hurt me at all.

Yes, the barbs were coming in many waves. But since it was mostly archers with only some axes and swords, they were not really dangerous, especially when both longbowmen reached CG3 promotion.
