And we got visual ... but since its so far away, even when Mardoc pops a border we won't be able to get open trade routes since it would have to pass an opponents ocean tile

Trade routes can pass through opponents' ocean tiles before Astronomy, just not neutral ones.

hmm ... seems like i've played a bit too casual ... forgot that i couldn't research Theocracy if i wanted to bulb Astro ... back to the drawing board on what to use my GS, i have sitting around, for ... bulbing Paper and building Sankore might be an idea since i allready have AP

Okay ... new plan ... Bulb Paper, grab a fast Currency (takes 3 turns at evens) for Markets, Move towards Liberalism with a Caste System GS out of Basketball to do the majority of the work on Education, and while at it build Sankore in Baseball (since thats my safest city and the one easiest to run high hammer)

Mardoc is appearently doing a runner sizewise so ...

Got a couple of Caravels near him so in a turn or two (need to position them, and i'll try to time it with gaining Astronomy) I'm going to try and bully him into opening borders (he many more cities than i do, so i gain more than he does) and 20gpt or i'm going to blockade his cities, as far as posible from oceantiles which he can't access for the time being

appearently caravels can't blockade so i can't bully him ... might not need to anyhow since

first in GNP, on my sustained rate (+~80 from trade routes with Mardoc and Ruff, against having internal trade routes), without having selected a tech, without GA ... grabbing CS (takes 2.6 turns or thereabout's) and Philosophy next and getting ready for a GP incomming in 9 turns which is going to be used for a Golden Age ... in which i'm aiming for Nationalism and settling the Marble i found on the island to the west of Mardoc for Taj (denial against Ruff since he have Masuleum)
