Too Much OF A Good Thing?

Hawkmoon Wrote:The "ideal" schedule really depends on how the expansion chapters will be structured - WarBlade's post seems to be predicated on the idea that they will add mostly, if not all, high-end content.
I was thinking in terms of expansions in general and yes, I do think high-end content will be a large factor, but not exclusively so. Put it like this: As our characters are precious to us, so too are other people's characters precious to them. We know from experiance that people like to develop what they have and frankly who wants to take an existing level 20 character back to completely ravage low level areas to unlock skills (or whatever) from low level quests? That's why I think that a substantial portion of the expansions to come will be aimed at the high end.

Granted, I have no idea how the expansions will be structured. A stand alone campaign where Cathan characters start from the Canthan Isles and have no access to pre-searing Ascalon might be an ongoing flavour for a number of future expansions for all I know. Or maybe we'll be back doing pre-searing Ascalon again, this time with Deldrimor Dwarves! eek Perhaps pre-searing Ascalon will be doubled in size in the future or perhaps the whole concept of expansions will fall flat on it's arse and we'll all get bored and bugger off to Tamriel in Elder Scrolls IV: Oblivion.

I suppose we'll just have to wait and see.

Desdemene des Morts occasionally chimed in with directions or a comment that targets were dead before her spell was finished. 8) Rolande Orgahn almost kept up with the monk and tapped ineffectually at targets that survived longer than a second and Half Moons came along to leech XP.

But on a good note, it helped me out, got me some good exp, and helped me bond with the RB crowd a little! So it wasn't all bad. smile Besides, the break-neck pace was fun. I wouldn't want to spend my whole GW career like that, but it was definitely a nice pace to the snail-crawl with Hirelings. smile

Alright, this is a little necro-posting, but I found a relevant new tidbit of info

Quote:We're releasing two Campaigns a year but each of those Campaigns will have a full year of development. I'll reiterate it again, these are games, these are not expansion packs and so they have a full development cycle. The development teams are staggered so that means we started work on Factions right as Guild Wars was shipping, and Campaign 3 started last Fall so it's well into development.

Well, this makes their claim for 2 per year far more believable. Possibly even done with a fair amount of quality. But then KoP's "not being able to keep up" worry still stands.

Just imagine 2-3 years down the road. Unless you are a extreme hardcore GW player, who would know the names of 2000+ skills, nevermind actually know what they do, or be familiar with them.

For most players, they will feel clueless when in conversations and forum exchanges concerning skills. I know I always have a browser load on skills information even now, a year after 1 chapter.
