So, looking back, it looks like I actually forgot to specify a specialization for evocation. I was going to do +1 to air control. I know for focus items it's offensive OR defensive, but I can't tell for the feat specialization. (This is less useful than it might be, defensively, but, offensively, extra control seems to translate directly into a stronger effect. Besides, offense-orientation is just better, and not in a gamist sense.
)
Okay, let's take a whack at spells and focus items...
A Wind Waker reference in the form of a conductor's baton for a focus could have been entertaining, but Mardoc already picked that. Let's go with something more practical:
David Winter's focus items are a pair of lined leather gloves. They'll be kinda hot in the summer, but they'll keep your hands warm while casting spells in colder weather.
The right glove is attack-oriented: +1 offensive power and control of Air spells.
The left glove is defense-oriented: +1 defensive power and control of Air spells.
Rote spells:
- Whirlwind Deflector: Power 4 block (or armor 2) that lasts for two rounds - Rapidly shifting currents of air around David make it hard to keep your balance when close to him and knock projectiles randomly off course, making it hard to land a hit. (And yes, there's a weakness in here to directed-energy attacks, if an enemy can exploit it by placing a temporary aspect.) This requires the defensive focus (left glove).
- Lightning Strike: A basic single-target Weapon:5 Lightning attack; requires offensive focus (right glove).
Ed: removed gust of wind spell... but flight sounds like it could be fun. I'll figure out the parameters on something like that.
