Wetbandit offered me 6gpt for open borders when I logged in, and I figured it was for exploration purposes...you know, to scout out my territory before he invaded me. And I'm like "Sure, you can check me out for 60 gold. I'm totally down with that, since there's nothing I can do to stop you if you attack me." But it turns out after I got out of diplomacy that he and Fenn are warring on Dreylin. alright And that I gave him another avenue to attack, though he doesn't really need it.

In any case, Dreylin, sorry man, I would not have accepted if I'd known you guys were at war at the moment, but I didn't know it.

Overall, I'm in second-to-last place, ahead of Adrien, and behind technologically, though I do have Rifling...that being said, wetbandit has frigates and I'm still using Triremes, so...

Heh, well it would have been a problem if he'd been prepared and arrived in force, but he only dropped off a handful of units and since I had pretty active scouting along your border with him I spotted it before he could do any real damage. And then I flooded your territory with Cossacks. mischief

I hope you don't think I was too harsh on you in my thread, there were a couple of points during the game when I was rolling my eyes at your city placements, and reading your thread there were a couple more that I missed. You really need to stop settling cities with no food resource available until after the borders have expanded! It can be OK as CRE because it requires no additional investment, but if you have to build a culture-producer while working a 210 or even 120 tiles and then wait for 10t for the build-up to create the pop... nono Peace on Earth, for example, must have been a drag on your economy for 15+ turns before it started to give anything back.

Yeah, I saw that he didn't really take much advantage of it, so I felt less bad about it after a few turns. Still, I wouldn't have done it if I'd cancelled the request instead of accepting it when I saw it and had the chance to see you were at war.

Since I was Zulu, and my UB produced culture and I knew I'd be building them all over, I honestly wasn't too worried about it. Yeah, it probably stunted my growth a little bit, but it was supposed to be a casual game anyway. smile
