Faction

I see that prevailing advice is not to collect both kinds of faction at the same time, because you spend them both at the same time (so to speak).

And because it's account based, it needs to only be collected once, and can be used by all chars.

My question is this: Assuming I have nothing I want to SPEND faction on (I merely want to collect it to get through that part of the game, befriending the whomevers), is there any reason NOT to collect both kinds simultaneously on one char (so as to ease the passage of successive chars without faction farming)?

And, as an aside, if I don't want amber or jadeite, is there anything worth spending faction on?

IIRC, no, and no.

If you want to contribute luxon faction to the alliance you can do that, but it's only use is for controlling a town in Factions, which our alliance isn't doing, so it's not really worth doing, unless you want the Befriending the Luxons title.

You can also trade it in for scrolls which give you passage to both elite missions in faction.

If you don't want the amber or jadeite shards you can still sell them to the rare material trader for quite a nice price smile

Ditto what Moo said. If you have no use for Amber or Jade, just build up your Faction on one side, shove all your characters through the hurdle at the 10K point, spend it on the rare materials, then repeat for the other side. Or scrolls. I don't know what price they're settling for yet but I'd expect it to follow the Amber and ade prices around. Once you've got the items you can simply sell them to other players or the Rare Materials Traders and get gold back from your hard-earned Faction. wink
