The scariest thing is the UI was worse in Beta. I kid you not. It was almost straight out of Diablo. COMPLETELY command-switch based. No buddy list. No chat buttons. Etc. Etc. Etc.

I was amazed to see the difference in the UI upon release. Granted, Guild Wars is a shining example of how to do a UI, but compared to Beta, this is leagues better.

As for things not getting fixed during beta... "Beta is at least three weeks behind internal builds." "We're working hard to fix things in Single Player first." Etc. Etc. I don't think their priorities were in the right place, honestly (circa Diablo, yes, SP should have been their main focus. Circa today? Not so, IMHO). Oh well. It is what it is, and I'm sure it will improve. It's all just a matter of how much, how long, and our patience.

I like the game, actually.

Purely guessing, I'd say the 3d random level generator turned out a bit more difficult than they thought, which explains the paucity of tilesets.

About clvl 25 or so, the game seem to go out of whack, at least on MM. The feed balancing on Legendaries is...not good.

I get so hot about the UI, and chat, because all those problems have been solved in recent years, and all they had to do was rip other games off for good features, but this was apparently too much trouble.

It is also disturbing that they don't use the (have to have the game to even read) forums to post updates on the game world/bugs. The current event, that about 75% of the folks posting hate and wish would go away, is still going on without a single post talking about it, long after it was supposed to be gone.

The impression given is that (1) no one knows what is going on, (2) no one has the authority to talk about it.

I've seen a bunch of worse capacity launches. I've never seen a worse gameplay launch. We have skills (oh, richochet, reflect, homing) that are behaving differently since the first patch, but aren't behaving like the beta, and aren't behaving like the skill descriptions (such as they are). So, which is it? No one knows. No one tells. Put a point or 4 in it because of how it is acting now? No problem. Of course it might be worthless tomorrow. We aren't telling.
