Nudist scrimmage 26/01 - report

Well, we just had to have a report of the scrimmage.

Rules: no equipment except for starter weapons and holiday stuff, no elites, max 185 attribute points to spend.

We went 4vs4, the two lineups were composed by WarBlade, Hawk, Fox and me in the red team; Wyrm, Drasca, Sylva and Vort in the blue one.

The first minutes were dominated by the red team, which could apply more pressure damage thanks to a Warrior and a Fire Ele. The sword Mo/W and Ranger on the other side couldn't deal much damage, and the blue team suffered heavy casualties. At the 7 minute mark, the kill count was 8-0 in favor of the red team. When the blue base archers entered the game, though, the tide of the battle turned, as the no armor rule made all characters very fragile to the arrows of NPC archers.

While the blue offence stalled behind the flagstand, the blue team took the time to run a flag, which was ignored by the reds. This mistake let the defending team gain three morale boosts undisturbed, which brought them on par again with the rivals. The red team took a couple deaths and had to retreat to its own base; they had managed to kill off three NPCs out of the gate, though.

As VoD neared, the two teams were back to a fight in the centre of the map, with the red team being able to push to the enemy base again, just before taking other deaths and retreating. The aggressive strategy had worked out, though: the slight NPC advantage became decisive, because it allowed the control of the flagstand at VoD, and eventually led to the blue defeat.

Was fun! Hope to see more...

Well, the match was mostly our team vs. Hawkmoon. When Flare deals 150+ damage, you know you're screwed.

Not ignored. There was a no flag rule that you missed (not being on Vent), then after Hawk semi-cheated, the blue team semi-cheated by breaking the rule. lol

As for me, I spent much of my time using the silliest skill I could find for my bar: Grapple. nod Time and time again I'd knock myself down and take one other with me. Hysterical fun! 8)

Did I miss something? What did I do wrong? I didn't intentionally cheat, semi- or any other way!

We'll have to rethink the rules if we want to try this again. Flare is just too uber. [Image: lol.gif] We could just add regular weapons, although the matches would be quite brief given monk capabilites, and that's not necessarily fair to degen strategies. Not sure what kind of "KISS" adjustment we could effectively make here. The game is generally balanced around armor, sadly enough...

I was just planning on treating it like an Arena match, not a full-fledged GvG, (hence no flags) but people seemed to keep playing even after the victor was obvious. [Image: tongue.gif] Those NPCs sure pack a wallop!

Good times had by all, I'm surprised people went along with this hair-brained idea. [Image: thumbsup.gif]
