According to Gus, rather than wait for another motherboard to come in, he decided to swap the video card out and replace it with a new one, just to see what happened.

Sounds like Gus has a great deal of faith in the other techies. May your computer's days be long and prosperous, and may your graphics drivers not randomly reset in the middle of playing a game or writing a forum post.

When my video card blew up last year I had to fork out quite a few dollars to even get the rest of the PC to boot up (and have the card replaced in the process). This past month my monitor started having fits and I decided at that point that the replacement of the four-year-old PC had finally arrived. Cue bank account depletion and new quad core I picked up yesterday.

The best time for these pricey fun boxes to fail is brand new when the warranty is fresh. It's good to hear you lucked in on that one.
