Just one actually. Or maybe two.
It added another fun, strategic element to our assault of Britannia.
And on the sixth day, god created Manchester.

You did well though, gambling on a double artist bomb.

That was funny. I did lots of calcs and tests to try to ascertain what our single Great Artist could do, but it all pointed to it falling short.
Then a second Great Artist was born...
We were also fortunate that the two spies we had that were captured were not those that were in Britannia.

Pegasus Wrote:The EP agreement between Gamblers and Ruff was just an excellent opportunity for Ruff. What best a team to collude with. I doubt you would have managed anything like the sort of techs from the rest of us.
I think it was when we landed the Hanging Gardens when he realised he'd bet on the right horse.
Pegasus Wrote:I do regret now limiting my options with Naps with TT that probably limited my window to attack TT. I identified the opportunity early doors but failed to even look into a possible attack ![smoke smoke](https://www.realmsbeyond.net/forums/images/smilies/smoke.gif)
It's interesting to note that actually felt powerless when we had NAPs with you and Ruff because you could then go conquering TT. However, your NAP and low power stopped that becoming a possibility.
Pegasus Wrote:The 200 turn nap agreement probably was one of the best deals ever for the Gamblers. Unless Ruff was prepared to break it, the rest of us had little chance to eliminate the Gamblers. Even if we had gone down that route, I imagine you guys could have just sent superior forces east and west and would have been fine.
There was part of me that thought such a long deal was a little game-y, not too far off from a full on teaming up. However, in context, it was our first PBEM and we (well, me mainly) were a bit nervous about Ruff's exploring warrior. We also felt that we essentially had no option but to accept because we couldn't stop Ruff from stealing techs. The only choice we had was 150 turns or 200 turns - given the timing of our later wars, we chose correctly, but it would have been interesting had we chosen the earlier one (although we might well have extended it).
Pegasus Wrote:For what it's worth, I cannot stress how much fun I have had playing this game. Maybe not the last few turns, but over the whole for me it was 9 months well spent. So thanks to all involved.
That's good to hear. I definitely enjoyed it - I really liked the map. I am very happy to play non-natural maps - I know some people prefer them naturalistic - so it was good.
It was also an honour to work with novice and his meticulous micro plans (which were in place for the first 50 turns). I learnt a fair bit about worker usage precision from him.

My favourite quote so far:
Pegasus Wrote:Having spent 3 whole evenings trawling through NSA's thread, I cannot see how they are going to lose this game, unless they just give up.
They appear as eager now as they were from turn 1. The effort they are putting into this game is just relentless.
We really need to spend some of our time doing something else...
