WW #41. New Horizons.

GG Bacchus. I had my doubts but not enough to fight for you. Anyhow, for me it is clear that - as long as I trust Lewwyn - Gazglum is the last scum.

That was partial payback for you jerks breaking my game. Special malice goes out to Novice (though you weren’t quite as right as you thought you were) and Rowain (for turning a heavy anti-town role into a town-friendly one). GG all, WP, and I hate you all.

Bacchus was killed by the remaining crew members. He was a member of the Earth First Liberationists.

Shortly after Bacchus’ ship left comm range, Serdoa calmly noted that an attempt was being made to eject his pod from the ship. With the help of an anchoring program he had run earlier in the day, and the assistance of the remainder of the crew, the ejection cycle on his pod was canceled. A brief amount of research showed the origin of the attack was Rowain’s console. Though he initially tried to deny it, he rapidly gave up, and started cursing Serdoa.

“You don’t even remember her do you? You don’t even think about my angel, my daughter who died because YOU failed to follow protocol. Her death is on your hands!” Everything that came after was nearly incomprehensible. A short question and answer session with the ships AI revealed that Rowain’s daughter had been assigned the role that Rowain eventually filled, but had died during an early training accident. To make the situation horribly ironic, Serdoa wasn’t actually in charge of that training mission, wasn’t there, and really had nothing to do with it. His only connection to Rowain’s daughter had been that of student leader, each member of the crew having taken turns in the role to develop their leadership abilities.

After a brief conversation the crew decided to send one more pod into space, killing their peers now being if not blasé, at least not horribly difficult. After rapidly reaching a consensus they initiated the ejection, only to watch it fail. Rowain’s ravings were briefly understandable, and a comment about “being prepared” came through the muttering. Reaching into the EFL handbook, they next tried vacating the oxygen from his pod, but this also failed. There was one thing however, that Rowain was not prepared for. A brief brainstorm came up with a simplistic idea, one that, perhaps should have been used all along, and would have avoided needless deaths. A simple change in programming altered the clock/calendar in Rowain’s unit, and the computer, now thinking it was a decade later, cycled Rowain into cold sleep, where he would wait until the ship arrived at its final destination.

With the final obstacle to their mission removed, the remainder of the crew reassigned workloads, and prepared for their maneuver with Jupiter, and a long and busy ten years until they were relieved.

The Human Expansionist League wins.
The Earth First Liberationists lose.
Rowain loses.
Jabbz fails miserably.

Thank you Bacchus, you were a worthy opponent.
