[Spoilers] As music goes

In an interesting turn of events Dreylin has started emphasizing research. I think he's doing research/wealth builds, or at least I hope so because I needed to do massive research builds myself to get up to his GNP. Considering that his power has been stagnating for a few turns I don't see what else he could be producing.

This means that he has probably decided that CV was too slow and that he had to challenge me for a science victory. But I'm definitely ahead of him there, and have a few massive production cities (around 100 hammers on the domestic advisor screen, with my cap at 150). I like where this is heading. Next turn I'll start seriously planning the defense of my capital, to avoid the misfortune of what happened to Pickle

Dreylin is becoming scary. He's 1 turning (or more likely 2 turning) superconductors. So I've decided to stop him sooner rather than later. I have modern armors as of this turn, and he still hasn't started researching it. In a few turns I'll have enough money to upgrade all my tanks into shiny MAs and wreck his cities. He has more power than me so far but a lot of it is planes and navy (more than me anyway). But I plan to kill a lot of planes on turn 1 of the war, so I think it'll be fine.

Yeah, that was massive Wealth Builds to try to keep up in the Space Race; by that point I knew I was falling too far behind in Production and would have to get ahead in Tech to stand a chance - but of course that put me at risk of your army. I'd never really considered going for Cultural victory, mostly I needed the Happiness resources to offset the WW that my permawar with PP had stuck me with.

Interesting that you originally built Factories everywhere, but only Power plants if you could afford the Health hit; in contrast I only built Factories if I knew I was also going to put Power in and then managed the Health around it. Of course that does set up nicely for landing 3Gorges later.

It's amusing : the only reason I attacked you was because I thought you were doing that huge GDP without wealth builds. I saw your power graph growing at almost my speed for a couple turns despite my production advantage as I was getting composites and assumed you were getting research via your corporation or something. So my attack was an attempt to use the window of opportunity where I fielded modern armor and you didn't.

Can you send me your last turn ?

Wow. Do you realize that you were making 1300 beakers at breakeven (without wealth builds) when, after you razed those cities, I was under 800 ? I was right to attack you, you had a nice GNP advantage

Well, at least we stopped before I had to Whip and Draft all those Specialists into the Army! wink

Couple of questions; why did you pull your fleet back into hiding? If you'd moved it forward a chunk you'd have been in position to get the first strike at my fleet after I'd made the Naval attacks.

Also, how were you using your Air Force? Both you & Picklepikkl seemed to have them set solely on defense, rather than using them on Recon missions. I uncovered the entire map each turn with ~8 Airships/Bombers, which was allowing me to plan accordingly.

I put my fleet into hiding because I knew that it was much smaller than yours. An attack from two of your ship stacks would have annihilated it.

I did use my planes for recon. I had 4 of them doing recon missions each turn to monitor your movements. Mainly looking for possible wholes.

I'll have to go back and take another look, but I was under the impression our fleets were roughly the same size by the end - I distinctly recall seeing you adding Battleships and thinking I needed to build a few more to catch back up. I did have a pair of Carriers and some subs as extras though, as well as the Transports. I had the Marine/Infantry loads distributed badly though, which hurt.

I probably had more battleships but those are best on attack to do collateral. So on an attack from you I would have suffered badly
