Well, with all respect, but without the great performance of Sivir in the recent finals, nobody would have come forward and said "oh, other carries have been nerfed, so Sivir has to jump from "nobody played her for 6 months" to the "T1 AD carry top spot".
This was clearly a big underestimation up to the top level and one that almost cost the (arguably) best LoL team an important win.

Well, you can either blindly quote Elementz, or you can create your own sort of mental tier list, based upon who you see in games. I watch a lot of high ELO streams, and play a lot of games at mid-high ELO (1400-1500, top 8-12% of ranked players), and in most cases, what I see foreshadows changes in Elementz's list. Furthermore, Sivir absolutely requires team support to achieve her fullest potential. The sort of team support that is not present in the games that everyone in this thread plays. If you want an all-out solo queue or low-level premade dominator, Sivir is not for you. If you have an excellent team behind you, with a strategy based around her, Sivir dominates.

It's correct that you would see him on many streams, but even Elementz placed him quite low in his last list (T3 I think).

Elementz's list is for 5v5 ranked games, right? Not solo queue? Pantheon is a weaker choice in premade games, with better teamwork, where his ult isn't nearly as devestating. He is a total pubstomper against weak players, or in solo queue though. By the way, Tier 3 doesn't mean "quite low." It just means that the character in question is situational, or might require more team support than the absolute top tier characters, who would fit into any team lineup.

Just want to quickly chime in and say I think Uberfish is right - cooldowns exist to balance summoner spells. If Flash is too powerful add two minutes to the cooldown. Still too powerful? Add two more. I think it's insulting to your player base to claim people can't make a decision between a 30 second Summoner Heal and a 600 second Flash.

I don't think I got involved in the summoner spell discussion at all, must have been someone else I do think that flash is kind of cheap though, and takes away from the uniqueness of heroes with similar abilities.

I never quite understood why buy Last Whisper (which gives armour pen %age), as Sivir gets no native armour pen, unless you get armour pen Marks+Quints. That guy didn't appear to get either armour pen Quints or Marks. Sword of the Divine with it's 8s of 30 ArmPen and 40s cool down seems a better buy when it gives you and extra 20% attack speed.

Boots, AS item, 4 items left. 4 BTs could be quite nice...should be over 500 attack at that point, fully farmed. When I've tried it, it can be quite fun to play the glass cannon, OTOH, I do appreciate the Guardian Angel in place of one BT, but that was when I was up against a 1000AP Karthus and I needed as much magic resist/staying power as possible.

It's always good to look at the enemy team first and only then decide what to buy. :aar:

...and particularly who's doing well on the enemy team. If you find yourself having to attack people with armour often as a physical carry just because they're fed and doing a lot of damage as well, Last Whisper is really the best value item you can buy (less than 2000 gold, and it gives you a small amount of damage and a lot of attack speed on top).

That is, assuming you're doing some damage as well. Not much use buying it as your first item

This is true. It's 40% of their armor, not yours which means Last Whisper is an extremely powerful item if the other team has a lot of armor items, or a Malphite.
