Ok, I will try to do this tonight and at minimum get screenshots and leader/civs out there. Apologies in advance to whoever spawns in the jungle or whatever. The mapmaker complaint box is thataway.
So uh, does anyone remember how we set up advanced start with Pitboss? I went to roll a map with all the settings, and I noticed the presence of advanced start means I cannot access WorldBuilder prior to using up some points. Which means I cannot generate a wbsave or anything. Did we just generate a normal game and then edit in the advanced start via wbsave file later? I honestly do not remember.
I think there is a simpler method.
I can amend the mod to remove Sid of Firaxis, so there should be no need for rerolls. Then Zulan can just start a new game on a random map with the correct settings and we can skip the entire step (July 17th, 2024, 03:19)Krill Wrote: I think there is a simpler method. This would work and may be the way to go. It seems when we did this previously we relied on some sort of Ramk magic involving starting without advanced start ticked, and then editing it into the wbsave or something? I'm fuzzy on the details. The other option is I know you guys largely wanted Advanced Start for extra vision. I could simply edit in a predetermined amount of vision for every player? While we're figuring this out, I want to make sure everyone's going into this with eyes wide open. I have rolled just two starts here so far. The first one was when I tested the settings, but did not select advance start, so the random roll was not usable. One player had this hilarious start.
The second was last night when I tried to start a game with advanced start on. I could only see one start without advancing, but it looked like this. The map settings used were identical except for advanced start. So a quick gut check to make sure you all are cool with the hypothetical scenario where you get start 1 and your neighbor gets start 2 . I'm not saying that WILL happen, but honestly this is a situation where you should be required to sign waivers.
I've rolled a couple of dozen starts. I know what I'm getting into.
Fwiw Classical era changes perceptions. Start 1 can have IW in 10 turns and have 3 workers on t0 and then look at all that glorious cottage land. Start 2 is bounded by tundra and desert and has food it struggles to use. That's the point of this mapscript, play the hand you are dealt |
