I'm looking forward to following this. I've sort of been lurking around the community for a while, but decided to register and follow in a more dedicated fashion.

Also, FYI for future players:

I couldn't log in to check victory screen, but roughly I suspect there is 2000-2500 land tiles.
That 2000/2435 tells you precisely how many land tiles there are on the map...2435.

Posted the same in plako's thread before I saw this - am I in breach of the LCOC already?
I have to run.

Generally game mechanics are allowed to be discussed, so long as you aren't giving away spoiler information or making suggestions about a course of action. I think more often than not this should be in response to a question put forward by the player, but looking at the discussion in plako's thread, I don't think you did anything out of the ordinary around here. T-Hawk pops into my spoiler threads and informs my stupid self from time to time.

That isn't exactly a question per se, but generally after a prompt like that, lurkers tend to flesh out the discussion around here. The players in the game didn't really feel strongly about the need for a strict LCOC, so I am not going to enforce it super aggressively. A purely mechanical response like novice's isn't something I am going to worry about if it doesn't include any spoiler information or suggest unconsidered options, and comes after the topic was broached by the player. Obviously it is easier, though, if the player asks for the help.
It seems we enforce the lurker conduct more aggressively around here in Pitboss games than in PBEM games. I can see why this might be the case, but I am going to try to let things occur more organically until something flagrant occurs.

So assuming we have to get either Copper or Horse with the first Settler, then in both cases this settling rush can't start until turn 33 (when the Settler's built in one case, and when BW's researched in the other case). So there's actually no difference for the first Settler between the two cases.
This is what I mean about not having the strategic thought necessary to be truly great at the game. This is the same situation for everyone, and they are going to be far away on a huge map, so why exactly do you need strat res again in a no barbs game?

Hey, you could've been like ruff and edited the worldbuilder file to just make everyone think it was a huge map!

Krill: thanks for all the detail youâve provided while finalising the map and the continued insights. I had a quick whiz in SP to get a feel, and can confirm that the map asks a lot of questions of the player. I hope the site has the bandwith to support Lord Parkin answering them all
On that subject, LP has been a lot less grating now that he is involved in a real conversation (even if his naming scheme is a little egocentric). The detail in his posts means he will probably be more interesting to follow than some of the others, and Senseless seems like a good partner for him.
