[SPOILERS] Pindicator, God-King of the Egyptians

Azza decided we were having too much fun:

I had my worker pasturing the sheep, and covered with a spear. He almost killed the spear, but luckily i earned enough XP for a promo and could heal it this turn as I retreat.

I'm going to mass units and kill somebody. They've both pissed me off so I don't really care who. I've already lost, anyway

The same thing happened to me!
Merovech's Mapmaking Guidelines:
0. Player Requests: The player's requests take precedence, even if they contradict the following guidelines.

1. Balance: The map must be balanced, both in regards to land quality and availability and in regards to special civilization features. A map may be wonderfully unique and surprising, but, if it is unbalanced, the game will suffer and the player's enjoyment will not be as high as it could be.

2. Identity and Enjoyment: The map should be interesting to play at all levels, from city placement and management to the border-created interactions between civilizations, and should include varied terrain. Flavor should enhance the inherent pleasure resulting from the underlying tile arrangements. The map should not be exceedingly lush, but it is better to err on the lush side than on the poor side when placing terrain.

3. Feel (Avoiding Gimmicks): The map should not be overwhelmed or dominated by the mapmaker's flavor. Embellishment of the map through the use of special improvements, barbarian units, and abnormal terrain can enhance the identity and enjoyment of the map, but should take a backseat to the more normal aspects of the map. The game should usually not revolve around the flavor, but merely be accented by it.

4. Realism: Where possible, the terrain of the map should be realistic. Jungles on desert tiles, or even next to desert tiles, should therefore have a very specific reason for existing. Rivers should run downhill or across level ground into bodies of water. Irrigated terrain should have a higher grassland to plains ratio than dry terrain. Mountain chains should cast rain shadows. Islands, mountains, and peninsulas should follow logical plate tectonics.

I really can't bear to show the same screenshot over and over, so just know that I've finished teching Sailing & Writing and have built a library & shrine in the capital. This turn I finished Calendar and I'm tempted to build Stonehenge and go full-on religious strat.

Azza has a pair of composite bowmen north of my capital, but their positioning indicates that all he wants to do is block off a large block of land for him to settle. Don't worry Azza, I had no such dreams

All right, everybody's deafening silence has finally shamed me into posting an update. But I don't promise to be cheerful. We've been leading the game in doom & gloom up until now and I don't see any reason to break from our competitive advantage.

Meet the scout that Azza tried to kill (and likely not for the last time). This is the guy that stole a worker from way up north in one of those fancy city-states that we hear about in Egypt, only to have Azza attack and try to kill it. The scout barely survived -- the worker did not -- and developed a bit of a skittish streak. The faintest sound and he stiffens and turns his head like a deer trying to catch the scent of a predator. He's developed a knack for knowing when danger is near. He calls it self-preservation. I call it being a good sentry. The poor man doesn't trust anybody now, and would prefer to send his days resting comfortably at home. Unfortunately for him, I wanted to scout out Azza's lands. Now it looks like Azza may try to kill him again.

Future site of the Egyptian Riviera. We want to put boats in this waters. I want to build Petra here, if only because it means Azza won't have it. I'm not usually this petty, honest. But I also want to get luxuries, since I've been cut off from all the mainland ones. There is fur to the far south, which is where I should put my third city. But there is also ivory off the coast to the east, and that is where I want to put my third city.

Oh wait, i was about to say how I researched Sailing so I could build a Galley and shuttle a settler over to the Ivory. That's a totally different game, isn't it?

Damn, why did I research Sailing again?

Optics is required to embark the settler. So Sailing is a prerequisite anyway, but it'll be a while before you get that next tech too.

I actually forgot that you don't need galleys to shuttle units until T-hawk's post. lol

Turn 49 now, and I have a settler on its way to found city #3. This city will go in the south, where my war chariot is scouting now

I also hooked up the marble this turn, which means Stonehenge is only a 4-turn build. Yes, I will do that. And Construction is also a 4-turn tech, so after Stonehenge I will build a few composite bowmen, and tech something like Currency. I don't know if I'm going to be able to build the Natinoal College here, but we'll give it a try too.

I changed course and decided to purchase a worker this turn. I probably should have done that 5 turns ago, but this is the turn I remembered. That makes 3 workers now, and a 3rd city in 3 turns.

This turn report has been brought to you by the Number 3 and the letter Q
