Given that C isn't happening, I can be swayed to either A or B depending on how they look. I guess A is final, is B as well? I'm leaning towards B, but it sounds like A might be the better compromise option.

Hey, I never picked Mao, he chose me! I haven't picked a combo in my games yet, it's always been random. Obviously the results speak for themselves... banghead

Played: Pitboss 18 - Kublai Khan of Germany Somalia | Pitboss 11 - De Gaulle of Byzantium | Pitboss 8 - Churchill of Portugal | PB7 - Mao of Native America | PBEM29 Greens - Mao of Babylon

Can we agree to strike these off the list and maybe discuss the last 6 a little bit more?

1) Barbarians: On 6 / Off 4
Starting units: Everyone starts with a scout 9 / Normal 1[/s]
Huts: On 2 / Off 7[/s]
Random Events: On 1 / Off 10
Espionage: On 2 / Passive only (no spies) 8
2) Corporations: On 4 / Off 6
Vassals: On 2 / Off 9
3) Difficulty: Prince / Monarch 4 / Emperor 3

These should be banned:
War Elephants: Agree 9 / Disagree 2
Nukes: Agree 8 / Disagree 3
Blockades: Agree 8 / Disagree 3
AP resolutions: Agree 8 / Disagree 3
Statue of Zeus: Agree 7 / Disagree 4
4) Cristo Redentor: Agree 6 / Disagree 5
5) The Great Lighthouse: Agree 4 / Disagree 3 + several votes for mapmaker choice

Regardless of pick method we should ban these:
[/s]India: Agree 6 / Disagree 3[/s]
Inca: Agree 6 / Disagree 3
Pacal: Agree 6 / Disagree 3
Willem: Agree 6 / Disagree 3

6) Pick method: A 4 / B 5

1) I'm in the no Barb category. Mainly because they introduce a small element of randomness that can screw up your micro, but aren't actually particularly tricky to deal with unless you get extremely unlucky. They're just a bit annoying. I'm not to bothered if they are on though.
2) Corps. I don't really mind if they are on or not. General consensus seems to be they are rather overpowered, however since games very very rarely reach corporations I don#'t think it matters hugely.
3) Difficulty- I reiterate that it's better just to let the mapmaker pick the difficulty. Prince for Toroidal and Monarch for cylindrical seem to be the usual settings, and I've always though they've had a relatively nice balance between expanding and maintenance.
4) It's just a real kick in spirituals knads, you can do all kind of crazy stuff with a civic change every turn as well.
5) If there is a lot of water the GLH is just ridiculously good. It should be banned in that case. Again letting the mapmaker choose is generally best.
6) I'd rather have a choice over a random civilisation and leader in this game.

To be honest the only two of those that I think are really important are that difficulty level and GLH are left up to the mapmaker. Everything else is ok either way, although obviously I'd prefer it my way.

The problem with the pick method B is that you can get a start and techs that do not work together.

2 possible options which allow to veto an assigned combo:
1. There are 18 approximately equal combos, you can refuse the first one rolled and get another out of unassigned ones. If 18 approximately equal combos is at all possible in BTS
2. There are 12 combos, and the rejected ones get re-distributed amongst those who rejected them

well, hardly a issue when games that aren't 'see-before-pick' ...

You can choose one of the "right" civs when you do not see the start. You cannot choose when you are given a leader/civ.

I agree with flugauto's concern, I'll switch my vote to snake pick.
