This game seems interesting; I hope to learn more when you're working less. thumbsup

Quote:* Anyone who does annoying things with the turn timer will be taken outside and shot, then made to wear a dunce cap, then brought back inside and shot again.

I offered LP OB while neither of us had units near the other. I did this a few times and he refused.

Later, he had a chariot at my border and offered OB to me. I refused them and positioned 3 units in sight of his chariot.

Then he moved the chariot away and offered again. I accepted. Then he moved the chariot 8 tiles into my territory from out of the fog before I logged in again. I am fucking pissed. I declared war on him and killed the chariot and a scout which happened to be next to a warrior of mine in German Jojoland. I have no plans to make peace.

Where's the dunce cap?

Still working on that. Apparently it requires copper to build.

Parkin probably has copper. wink

Apparently some lurkers informed Parkin of what I posted in my thread. I would rather people didn't do that. It already seems technically foolish to report with all the spoiled subs we're having, but at least I can object to spoiled subs if I want to.

In any case, it's done, so I talked with him about it a bit to explain why maybe you should be more careful not to double-move when your unit is approaching or entering someone's territory, and why it would be nice if he played his turn in one chunk instead of spread out across the entire timer.

I apologize to the other players in the game for the small bit of unauthorized "diplo" that has occurred, and I hope you find its effects to be generally beneficial to everyone.

If it were anyone but LP would you have had the same initial reaction? I agree it's an action he should avoid because he's still got a reputation to dispel, but if e.g. Plako had done it (I'm not saying he would) how would you react?

The innocent explanation is that he was moving his chariot away to do something else thinking you didn't want to open borders, then he takes open borders to mean you're fine with him scouting you, and in the name of turn pace he double moves you. The guilty explanation is that he'll always take advantage of rule-bending, exploits and corner-cutting to get ahead.

I'm not sure what to think. I'd rather believe the first explanation but perhaps he's too smart for that?

I would be pissed at anyone doing it the same.

I don't think he did it intentionally. He was probably really shocked I declared war.

Part of why it's frustrating is that his method of playing turns is to log in multiple times a turn. So since he plays both before and after me on a lot of turns, it's hard to tell if his scouting chariot has moved yet on a given turn. And also, when he moved his chariot this past turn he didn't even end turn, so he could easily have delayed the move until after I played. I would be equally frustrated at anyone who played like this. Another example is Sullla in PB16.

Well he should stop making it a habit of playing his turn in itty bitty pieces. It's fine to log in several times to check things, but it's poor form to intentionally habitually break up your turn into many pieces because you should not be playing both before and after your adversaries with any amount of frequency. That is an unfair advantage. It's part of why I would never play a game with Parkin.

And yes, lurkers should never reveal what a player wrote in his thread unless absolutely necessary, even if it's something as minor as "so I hear you got a great scientist!"

If someone else wants to politely confirm to Lord Parkin that he shouldn't do this, I think it might help for him to hear it from more than one person.
