I think the standard is that you don't log in unless it's your half of the split. It may be inconvenient in terms of turn pace but it's much less likely to lead to trouble/reloads from people accidentally playing in the wrong order because they don't know if their opponent has or hasn't played yet. If you wait for Civstats to show they've ended their turn that's an unmistakable signal.

Joey is correct though --- I did misinterpret the spirit of their PM. I guess I missed it because I never consider logging in on the wrong side of the turn split, and therefore had their "Finished Turn" in finger quotes instead of understanding they meant the actual game mechanics. Now that I read it again, it makes more sense and I would really never deny the opportunity for both of them to survey the game.

I'll send them (then post here) a cordial PM shortly, as well as survey the damage and play my turn in a few hours.
