Sunrise: Too smart for his own good.

His options:

1) Go all-in for GLH, which means that his techs will be:
Mining, Masonry, Fishing, Sailing, and BW could be snuck in there or not.

2) Take the hit of losing the PH and the plains cow. Play normally. Might not work so well, because he'll be behind everyone else and even an Impi rush requires time to be spent as efficiently as possible.

God, he is probably better off just moving back onto the plains hill isn't he, even if he essentially starts two turns behind?

Looks like the bad run of sunrise/Rego in these games continues.

The further I am away from a game, the better they do. Here I think sunrise just tried to second guess and screwed up. If they moved back, they'd finish the worker the same turn as if they settled where they presently are, but would have a better long and short term city, but not coastal. So yeah, pretty much they should move back...

Also, I found a popcorn smilie [Image: popcorn.gif]

Sweet smilie.

Pretty hilarious how the other teams are picking up on the smoke move by sunrise and even making fun of him for it. I might've tried to immediately settle if he didn't plan to move back, just to cover up the move if possible.

regoarrarr Wrote:Sunrise pointed out that only folks with a scout would be able to confirm that both bodies of water are coast (the standard opening pic, if they are all the same / similar) shows the outline of water but you can't confirm if it's a lake or coast

This includes an incorrect assumption about the map balance alright and all the civs could actually have checked with a mouseover anyway – 2W and S-SW show no fresh water.

It could get worse for them too: they’ve moved their scout twice, and barely revealed more than they could have by settling in place; if the scout keeps going that way it hits only coast and then the top of the map; and there is only one tile to the north to settle the cow and a second resource (both second ring).

Well, of all the teams to move the settler Zulu were the last one I thought would do it. Should be fun to watch them try to make hte best of settling in place.

Yeah, I'm glad there's at least a bit of variation in where people have settled. Will make the game much more interesting IMO, even if the spot they're in seems much worse at this point.

Although who knows, maybe they'll find a way to leverage the GLH, and become competitive that way...

Possibly, although there are still 4 or 5 industrious civs they'd have to compete against, so even though they have a coastal capital the GLH isn't necessarily assured to them.

Also, given their team's loss of time by moving 2S and getting a worse city for their trouble, why does Rego think it's a good idea to build a warrior first? I think it's the easiest way to get them into an even deeper hole than they already are. smoke
