[Spoilers] Gavagai, Bacchus and Elizabeth Form a Romantic Trio

Some thoughts about our strategy. What is bad about this land is that I still don't see a good GP farm. Capital can run six specialists easily but it is already earmarked for bureocracy and cottages. Cow-corn city can run 5 specialists assisted by two grassland farms but only at the expense of crippling a production monster which I want to settle to the north. If there is some food resource to the east we can found a GP-city there as at some point we would want to take clams from the capital anyway. But for a good hybrid economy one GP-farm is usually not enough.
On the other hand, we have a lot of hammers around and it makes running caste system more feasible.

We just need to wait and see a bit. A GP farm is not an immediate priority in any case.

GP-farm needs time to grow before we can start to use it. I would want to make a transition to hybrid at about T100-110, doesn't make much sense to do it later. It means that we need to settle our future GP-farms no later than T70-80.

Bacchus, one of the threads in the general forum reminded me about a delicate question we need to discuss: if we want to build any infra in the capital early, should it be a lighthouse or a granary? I'm leaning to a lighthouse but it will require researching sailing early.

I played another turn. Borders expanded and revealed that we have a rice in the jungles to the south of our capital. Also we can now see that in the south the coast turns east (I already knew that from foggazing). We don't have any visible resource to the east. Scout went S-SE and found nothing interesting.
Can't show you pictures as my dedlurker forgot to log out once again. It is really becoming a pattern. May be he will post some pics to redeem himself but I kinda doubt it.

You need only ask.

Also, why not take the pics, when you play the turn?

In a hurry was I.

Logged in and took the turn, scout went SE-SE and found some dry, but easily irrigable corn next to lovely meandering green river.

Next turn we should go E-SW, as the turn after we will have to go onto a hill or jungle to scout the south coast anyway, might as well use the half-turn to scout the coast around the corn. Mysticism will pop just as we see what's on the coast.

Capital switched to working a GFH, growth in 2. Demos after the swtich:

I really don't understand these rankings. On population and approval, where everyone is drawn, we are fourth. On GNP, even though we are drawn with some people, we are last, and on MFG, even though we are drawn again, we are first. I'm we can work out the principle, but where the hell does 4th place come from? In any case, there are 3 civs that are somehow ahead of us on tiebreakers. Hopefully these are static.

I think this is very simple. We are player 7 and if we are ranked in reverse player-number order than we should be fourth in all stats in which everyone is drawn. We are last on GNP because all people with equal GNP has higher (lower?) player-number than us. Actually it is quite helpful as we can know for certain that Sian, Serdoa and Nakor/Jester are the only possible people who have 16 GNP. And MFG is a reverse case.
I agree with your proposal about immediate scouting moves. Actually I thought about it myself after I logged in. But we need to think what will be our scouting strategy after that. Given the coast line, there is a possibility that all the land to the north is a large peninsula which is left exclusively to ourselves and that all neighbors are behind the jungle barrier. We can send the scout back north to check if it is true. Or we can send him into the jungle to explore.
I'm leaning to the first option.

There is a land in the east (encircled). Also, Scooter (Victoria of Zulu) got a score increase. Fishing, I assume.
If there is no seafood to the east of the capital, I will officially abandon the idea of hybrid economy. Given the land we now can see pure CE would be much stronger. We will use phil to get a shrine and academies in our main commerce cities. May be we will bulb something towards Liberalism.
