I seem to be annoying everybody in PB33 with my struggles to play turns. Anyone that could take over would be appreciated. I guess unspoiled people will be at a minimum. I can spare some time to get people up to speed as the thread has been a bit bare lately.

When the clear game leader doesn't have time to play and is looking for a sub, wouldn't this be a good time to call the game? Lurkers would know better than I would since I don't have any info outside of the game, but from what I can see in the game it seems unlikely that REM's position will be overtaken by anyone. I mean, if I declare war when enforced peace is up maybe I can burn a few cities before he shuffles troops to stop me, but that doesn't make a lot of difference, and there's nothing in it for me anyway. From looking at the demographics only Scooter and Dreylin really matter much in terms of winning, and I don't see either of them doing a lot to catch up. I think concession is fine, but I'm not the right person to suggest it since I just took over here a few weeks ago. I guess if an enterprising lurker wants to go around and privately feel out the players' opinions on this maybe we can save some people playing out of obligation. Seems like that's what Dreylin is doing anyway, and it's probably also the case for at least Donovan and pindicator. Mostly, though, it's what REM and Scooter/Dreylin want to do. I'll play as long as they're all still in it.

Modern Era isn't as varied as I'd hoped and I didn't sim it to death or trait win. Now if only 32 would be done I could be freeeeeeeeeeeee.....

Played a double turn. Finished Flight, we have fighters in the field, a bunch more complete next turn before the enforced treaty is over. If REM invades he'll lose a bunch of units after coming off the beachhead. We have a sizable navy now, too, not that it matters that much with all the exposed coastline on this map. You can mostly sail around the enemy fleet to deposit your transports if you don't mind them being sunk after the troops get dropped off. REM fired a golden age after spawning a GE, so that's a big advantage for him, and he took a big city from Scooter. Civstats shows a 24 point swing. Our power is clearly ahead of Scooter's now, which means he's building and losing units while we're just building and building units. Dreylin is also stocking up on units, not sure what he'll do with them but at this point it's probably irrelevant. He may attack us or may attack REM, but this game is over either way. GG, REM/IMP.

T337 - After working 12 hours today I have the pleasure of subbing for BGN in the first half of a war split, circa 1917 AD in game. I evidently let the first day of the timer run by without playing (oops), so here we go, let's log in and see how long this is going to take before I can go to bed...hey, OK, this is good?




I did the needful and kindly checked over the empire using the mini map, and didn't see where we had lost any cities. I can't pull up the event log so no idea if there was any combat or not, but in the interest of not having to play through long war turns when I have zero interest in the game, I'm going to accept the treaty. Peace in our time! (OK, we're about 20 years early on that one but whatever). Peace, like right now.

I checked EP allocation, looks like we have graphs on everyone, so I changed spending to go 100% against REM. Because hostility. By the way, who started the war? I don't really have much context for knowing whether a white peace was a win, loss, or neutral outcome. Whatever, let's claim victory, that's more fun anyway.

This was soul-sucking for me to read. You were obviously under NO obligation to stay at war, but seeing the reason was basically "huh nobody told me about this so sure, peace sounds nice"... I wondered why peace was made, and to find out the reason was "um I replaced my brother in a game and he didn't bother to tell me we were at war with the runaway leader.

I'm guessing you've divined this by now, but it went like this:

1) REM was running away with the game
2) Due to some mutual fears of him eating someone, BGN signed a defense pact with pindicator. He offered it to me too, but while I technically rejected it, I intended to keep with it.
3) REM ends up at war with myself, pindicator, and BGN with Dreylin's enforced peace treaty was the only shoe left to drop. I don't think BGN/REM war was hot (just going by screenshots I see in REM's thread, not 100% sure), but at the very least it was pinning down REM units. You weren't really in serious danger because REM couldn't afford to invade you. I don't think?
4) Shortly before Dreylin would be freed up for a full-blown 4v1, you login and go "huh that's odd what is this here war thing let's not" and sign peace.

Amazing.
