Yeah, I've seen that Pally deck a fair bit. I haven't found it to be impressive but I suppose I'm not really getting the right taste of it at rank 10, particularly since I generally play either Watcher or Token which both do pretty well against rush decks. With Token especially it doesn't hurt me to empty most of my hand so they really don't get any value from Divine Favor.

I can see it being strong in the current meta. Divine Favor is either going to shit all over a handlock/miracle by evening their card advantage for 3 mana or force them out of their comfort zone by playing lots of cards to counter it and hence not being able to get the combos off. Downside of course is that's 100% of their card draw so games where you don't draw it you probably find yourself skunked. Still beats just sitting around playing a midrange and getting combo'd from 24 hp though.

Interesting thing about that paladin is that basically everything is 1 health. Not Leeroy, but he may as well be. When I play these guys as zoo, I strongly feel that I am playing a control deck, and the fact that I usually have to overkill these 1 health guys is really annoying. I like zoo in this matchup but it is always a close game. Avenging wrath is wicked.

As for the miracle rogues, they must be concealed. I haven't seen many recently unless I watch a stream. You would think rank 5 would have a ton of miracle rogue copycats who just don't quite have the execution to go higher. But recently I've seen more druids, shamans, paladins. And of course, warlocks are still the people's choice.

I saw this deck yesterday as a Priest quest tempted me back into constructed — it's surprising how long the discovery of the awesomeness of divine favour for a rush deck took, opp got to draw something like 5 card off it against me. Alas, wasn't enough to swing it, as all five died in the next priest efficiency clearance, but a sight to behold nonetheless. Absolutely perfect against combo decks with their set collection.

Divine Favor has been the key card for rush Paladin for a long time, it's just that rush Paladin wasn't any good against the metagame.

I think Paladin plays best at mid-late game where you end up putting down multiple 3-5's a turn. I think aggro paladin is probably a red herring. Aggro flavor decks are more or less an aberration caused the late game burst meta.

In a lucky set of match-ups, streaked right through rank 7. Scared to go further for now, but it's amazing how the field changes over the course of the season, first time I briefly made it to 8 everybody was encrusted in gold, including the legendaries, now I don't see that at all.

Decided to play some constructed, and got to rank 5 comfortably with this variation on giants warlock. Got all the cards from packs which dictated the deck choice to some extent

0: Soulfire x2
1: Mortal Coil x2
2: Ancient Watcher x2, Bloodmage Thalnos, Ironbeak Owl x2, Sunfury Protector x2
3: Shadow Bolt, Earthen Ring Farseer x2
4: Hellfire x2, Shadowflame, Defender of Argus x2, Senjin Shieldmasta, Twilight Drake x2
6: Siphon Soul x2
7+: Mountain Giant x2, Molten Giant x2, Ragnaros, Malygos

deck is really fun to play, it can pull tricks like Thalnos+Hellfire to kill concealed auctioneer, Malygos+Coil killing their minion, Malygos + double Soulfire for 18, and of course Malygos + Soulfire discarding 2nd Soulfire for 9 damage + "oops"

The shadow bolt isn't the most efficient card of all time, but I like it in this deck, it helps preserve my Soulfires for the endgame and avoid discarding. I almost always have a good target for it. there's also a 1-of Senjin to increase consistency against rush decks.

Won't have the time to try for Legend though.

Interesting twist, uber. I got Maly from a pack the other day and was trying to think of a viable deck to use him in. I generally think 9 drops are just a terrible idea if they don't do something right away - playing something that doesn't immediately change game state on t9 is an excellent way to lose. I hadn't thought about Soulfire though, that's certainly one way to do it. I can't imagine that its efficient often but it sure sounds like a ton of fun.

Actually I found Malygos-Soulfire to be quite an efficient finishing move because it's instant damage out of nowhere that ignores taunts, it's like having a Pyroblast. Malygos' role in this deck is similar to that of Ragnaros, ending the game before the enemy draws whatever they need to kill you.

Don't know how exactly it compares to the Leeroy-Faceless that a lot of other warlocks run as I don't have those cards.

(amusingly, the last cards to show up for this deck were the two common Earthen Ring Farseers, I got the giants quite early on)

Yeah I like Malygos-Soulfire because it solves the problem that Gaspar mentions. The game is too fast to waste any turn after 6 or 7 setting up for anything unless you can guarantee you can't be killed. For example Antonidas is playable in both Aggro mage and Freeze/Burn Mage because he combos with an earlier played ice block.

Rag seems kinda questionable in there though. You should already have played 8/8s by T8 so getting a random charge 8 damage isn't very valuable imo. Leeroy would be much better but if you don't have him so maybe a Power Overwhelming instead? It provides some guaranteed reach and combos well with Shadowflame.

edit: I've played around with a handlock deck (missing one mountain giant and some other stuff though) and I'm not very good at it yet but I was struck by how consistent it is in taking advantage of bad plays. It's probably the best leveling deck I've seen just because it can capitalize so ferociously on mistakes.
