[SPOILERS] Balseraphs: A Guide to Mis-Management (by Kyan and TT)

Kyan Wrote:Hmm, if it's HN, does it actually 'meet' us officialy?

Yes. This happened in my FfH duel with Bob.

Oh yeah! You might want to consider checking out that game Kyan, for a lesson on how to carry out a griffon lair raid perfectly, and have it all fail terribly regardless :D Most unlucky lucky adventurer from a lair ever...

Also a great lesson on why the Overlords are a top-tier religion. I never even considered seriously running it ever before that game.

That's unfortunate but good to know. I'll have to bear that in mind. Maybe the 'my scout met you but then got eaten by a griffon frown ' story holds some weight after all...

Duly noted. Could be very good depending on the size of this sea. Also, is the world wrapped i wonder? Cultists could get an early circumnav.

Turn new: Smiley Jim finally copped it despite his combat 1 and flanking 1 promo's. Rest in peace. That lizard will be like combat 3 now and is right on Grigori borders. Woops. lol

I found another hut which yielded our first free tech! Ancient Chants. Very nice as it would have been our next tech to research. Thank you very much RNG!

Ok, so i popped two dungeons. One was lucky and one was unlucky.

One was a minor piece of luck and one was a major piece of luck. I need some enthusiasm before i reveal all though so guess away! lol

...So unlucky and lucky with minor and major luck?

um.

Adventurer and Dungeon Portal that sent a lizard half way round the world.

That's my guess.

My guess is

Lucky - spider spawn that suicided on lizardman
Unlucky - Mistform spawn

Nice guesses guys and i think this illustrates why Fall from Heaven is so awesome. There are so many different things that happen each turn to keep you on your toes. My turns are rarely boring.

So, the two dungeon pops.

First:

My lizardman got stabbed by a goblin with a poisonous dagger resulting in some minor damage but the poison debuff (-10% str and heals slower). This is unfortunate but not too awful. It can be remedied simply by sitting and healing which will take four turns.

Second:

We got a Great Prophet! This is HUGE. 5 commerce and 2 hammers per turn when settled. I ran a worldbuilder simulation to test the bulbing orders and they seem far less useful than simply settling. This will increase our tech rate by crazy amounts as well as providing very useful hammers. Fantastic news.

Potentially better news was to come though as at the end of the turn, a gorilla moved into range of our sothern lizardman! The poisoned one unfortunately but we still had decent odds to win on the next turn (~80%). I decided to fortify and heal and let the gorilla attack me since i was on a hill... which he did and we won! Whilst we are talking about animals, i have also found an elephant to our north. Once the northern lizardman has finished recovering from his successful griffon taming, i'll see if i can't get Nelly for us. She'll make a fantastic city defender which would seriously tempt me to do the following build order in our capital:

finish settler -> worker -> settler

This would yield us 3 cities around turn 40. For Beyond the Sword, i'd be ashamed of myself but that seems pretty decent for Fall from Heaven. Our military will consist of (hopefully):

4 warriors (1 combat 1), 2 lizardmen (both combat 1, subdue animal but each are also due another promotion very soon), 1 griffon, 1 elephant, 1 gorilla.

Dave, what was that about us getting serious about Grand Menagerie once we have a gorilla? This is also making our already ludicrous power look more nuts. Settler is 7 turns from completion.

Wow, talk about a snowball start! Have you considered buying lottery tickets? You seem to be on quite a roll...

Wow that is indeed starting to become a runaway start!

A Gorilla is the hardest animal to find. Once you get that you can start planning for the others;

Gorrila = Jungle Rare
Tiger = Jungle Rare / Way of the Forest Priest Summon
Lion = Desert Uncommon
Wolf = Forest/Tundra Common
Bear/Polar Bear = Forest/Snow Common
