Not an awful lot happened this turn, but I did a lot of things, so I'll run things down step by step. I took a lot of pictures.

Great People births are noteworthy. Thankfully we got a Scientist instead of a Spy. We'll come to that later. Shakanator (France) made some interesting decisions. I wonder if Commodore is going to extort cities from anyone else with his big power rating? Anyway, Shak looks to be going for a specialist economy: Caste system to run lots of specialists, Representation to get more out of them, and Pacifism to spawn more great people. We currently have a couple units exploring France. I haven't taken an awfully close look at the territory yet, but we should take a look to see what their food surplus looks like.

It's sort of worth noting that the Inca are still holding onto their Great Artist. Perhaps saving it for a well-timed Golden Age to switch civics?

Our Great Scientist can build an Academy in the capital, Bulb Philosophy, or start a Golden Age. I believe that after we swap to Bureaucracy that an Academy would be worth 25-28 beakers, which should increase gradually as Washington's cottages mature. Not exactly a super science capital considering the point in the game, but our capital is by far our strongest commerce city. I don't think we're going to make it to Liberalism, so bulbing is probably a waste, and I don't think we want to burn this guy on a Golden Age, but chime in if you think differently.

We're not doing so well on the technology front.

Our next Great Person will be the Prophet for the Shrine. Please ensure that Boston is always working 2 Priests at all times, even after whips, or we'll miss the window. After the Prophet, we can drop the priests, so we'll get another Great Scientist from the capital.

As much as I'd like to burn down that coastal city of Ruff's so we can grab the fish, I decided I could put that Settler to more immediate use:

Providence (Rhode Island, smallest state). Washington is going to have some happy issues due to size soon, so I decided it could nick the Rice for a bit (though we may want to give it back to Washington for a few turns). Providence is basically some trade routes and it can work adjacent cottages to keep them going. Not worth much, but it's better than having a Settler sitting around and doing nothing forever.

I had workers do things. I'm trying to time a few things with chops, Kuro, so let me know if you're going to pick the saves up again before that pans out.

Under the spoiler is a run through of all the cities and my explanation of what I'm doing with them.

Our Capital. I'm trying to work as many cottages as possible while getting some important infrastructure in here. Forge, of course, and I'm queuing up a Market next in anticipation of Bureau bonuses to commerce. Did some tile swapping with nearby cities. As neighbors grow larger, we should do our best to make sure all cottage tiles are always being worked.

New York is getting some Catapults chopped out. Not an awful lot to do here until we get Civil Service so we can farm those plains.

Another of our northern commerce towns. It's just growing and working cottages. Nothing special.

It's being included just because I have to. After this Archer it can slowly work on a Missionary for somewhere else.

Our new filler city.

Crap town. Building Walls because it's probably going to need them.

Again, not a lot we can do here before Civil Service. I'm trying to get those forests adjacent to the city chopped just in case the Inca decide to invade.

Getting us our Priest and working cottages. I'm going to see if I can get that Missionary out before before a couple of forest chops finish, so that might cost us some commerce short term. Library finished EoT, so we'll start teching.

Speaking of tech, we should decide whether or not to make that Academy before the next save gets played. Science is still off so there was no hurry this turn to use the Scientist, but if we're doing an Academy, we want it for science to be on. We're also going to have to figure out how to distribute troops between east and west. I think it would be good to get some Stables up and some Horse Archers built because we're going to need fast responders with our spread out "empire."

I mean, we're basically dead last in every important demographic, so we kind of need everything now, but we can't do that. I'd still be happy to boost our power a bit more and take a bite out of Ruff before his Statue of Zeus makes all of our citizens completely miserable.

It's a million to one shot but it might just work.

sorry Whosit more RL stuff has made Civving almost impossible and some HDD failure issues might end up making it literally impossible. If I lose comp access what do you wanna do?

Well..... I really wasn't planning to do this game solo. I suppose I could be the turn player, but I'd still like your input. Of course, that means I'm going to have to do a lot of detailed reporting which I really don't want to do on a regular basis right now. However, I guess I'd take over just to prevent this game from stalling out. Sorry about all your bad fortune.

Well, the not being able to play is really a worst case scenario, it looks like it might not happen thanks to a friend but it still could for a while (A friend is giving me 300 dollars to buy stuff and that might mean not losing any CPU stuff). I'll definitely be able to give my input if I am unable to play, it is just that worst case I will be stuck on a very old and crummy laptop (You need to keep an eye on the power cord and jigger it constantly just to make sure it doesn't rapidly drain it's battery) that can't play Civ IV, but it can browse forums and stuff (Albeit slowly).

By the way I just read the reporting, I agree with an Academy.

So, opened the save to this nonsense:

I'm guessing this is some of that "AI Diplo" bullshit. Personally, I don't like the secret language system that seems to have developed. Oh well.

Maybe this means he's planning to attack Ruff in 3 turns. Maybe it means something else. In any case, it wouldn't hurt to try and position our forces to strike Ruff in case Commodore makes a move, but we'd want to wait and see what he does and see if it turns into more than a 1 turn war like it was with us.

Onto domestic matters:

The Academy is worth about 20 beakers to us right now. Hopefully those cottages will start maturing soon, but even on Quick it's a slow process.

Commodore, chopping down our forests. As it happens, we're now overbuilt on Workers now that we've lost a city. I've build a few roads here and there, and I'm trying to pace our the chopping of forests. Most of the forests in the south are probably going into to units.

Boston has a couple of swords as garrison. They could be loaded onto the galley, and perhaps make an amphibious attack on that Ruff city, as long as it has only one Archer as garrison. Burn it down!

A few cities grew, which gave us just enough extra beakers to push CS to 1 turn instead of 2. Neat. Should we revolt to Bureau as soon as we can? I think so.

Two chops are coming in on turn 86, so I want this guy done on EoT85. Next turn, stop working 2 cottages and work mine and horses for a turn to get enough hammers to finish it off. Chops could go into a Market, which would be useful here.

I played the turn. There weren't a ton of decision points to report on this time, but I took some screen shots and I'll put those up later.
