New FFH2 PBEM?

Okay, in the interest of keeping this game on the rails and not imploding, I'm going to put my foot down and declare that I refuse to make a map for something that diverges massively from the settings already voted upon. Therefore please save the unrestricted leaders / advanced start / whatever discussion for a different game.

You wanted randomness North Star? Well, Last Days will definitely add that! So, why not I say! Unrestricted Leaders is fine with me. I'd like to see Advanced Start as well if we can all agree to it.

Egads, unrestricted might be too dangerous for a multiplayer newbie like me; have mercy...I am for last days just cause the end of the world in my single player games is always too slow and underwhelming, especially as the sheeim, but that might be cause ai don't sack cities and like to run around casting sanctify and some bs, so idk. Advanced Start is preferable cause otherwise this game is going to be horrendously dull for at least the first 50 turns, which means 2 months of clicking end turn...

I was talking partly tongue-in-cheek (and foot-in-mouith) Saruman. But I CAN'T approve of Advanced Start- I simply HATE the way it forces you to decide where to found all your cities right at the start, and changes the whole game balance/strategy.

HOWEVER, if you wanted to go with a single extra starting Shade (NOT Workers- that hurts civs with weak Workers like the Elves too much, and greatly benefits the Dwarves... Warriors also help leaders with Aggressive, etc. more than pacifist leaders...) to accelerate the starting game a bit, I suppose I could be convinced to go along with it... I'd prefer NOT to have anything but a standard start, mind you, but I *could* be "convinced"... mischief

Maybe in exchange for stronger support for Living World and Huts being on, and Raging Barbs and Last Days being off? pirate

Living World and Huts being On has strong support for this game. Last Days I'd wish you'd vote for too cause it rounds out the strong Yes to all functions.

At any rate, I don't really agree on a Shade, it's not a game function. It just means that we all settle the Shade for a Great Sage and continue on. So, change your vote if you would, but if not, meh.

If everyone would submit their picks, that' be great.

A Great Sage? Why would everybody necessarily choose that?

A Great Engineer can really help with early hammer production (good for early-rusher civs), and a Great Merchant is actually MORE useful for beaker-production in the long-run, since he not only provides Gold (which can be used to set a higher Science slider) but a Food that helps with early growth and allows half of a Sage specialist... A Great Merchant makes *particular* sense for the Khazad, who can use it to get an early kick on their vault-mechanic...

There's no massive rush there. Given that not all settings are determined yet, i doubt Bob will have even started on the map yet - and it's certainly not reasonable or wise to choose when the settings might change abruptly.

Thanks Q, but Kragroth is right- once the issue about whether to allow Keelyn or not is resolved, I'd like everyone's picks submitted. It means I won't have to edit the WB file to insert appropriate civs, which is nice. For the similar reasons I'd appreciate a player order as well, sorted by timezone (I'll roll randomly to figure out who is actually the first player, and then work from there).

Bob's already put his foot down on not changing additional new settings and I don't think there's enough interest to challenge that. I'm not interested in biased Shades that can't be Great Prophets and would rather play the plain old start if we're not doing advanced start.

Banning Keelyn is fine. Since it's not banning a Civ, I can go along with it.

I'm fine banning Keelyn. You are correct in that only Tasunke disagreed with Living World and Huts and we haven't heard from him recently, so I think thats a go.
