@BGN: I had thought about an idea similar to yours. It could work in theory.
What about eliminated players (we know we're gonna get those) who might still be willing to play? If they had to take over an empire that was geographically distant from their original one, would that fly with people?

This would be ok to me in most cases.
I also wouldn't mind having a heavily spoiled player playing turns. However it might be hard to find players willing to do this. I think Commodore is currently our only and reluctant spare player.

Sorry guys. I'm away for the weekend, which I thought I'd made clear in my thread, but evidently not. I wont be able to play turns for the next 4 days, so if a lurker can cover then that would be ideal.
(I think one of the main issues here is actually that there aren't very many lurkers available to cover, which puts considerable strain on those willing to do so.)

Maybe we should start invading the threads of people playing in other games, but not this one, and start begging them to be turn-players for us? I mean, people have mentioned that half the trouble is just alerting other people that we're having problems, so...? But hey, at least we were ambitious to start this game up.

How about, you know, mentioning it in this thread?
I have to run.

But that would be smart!
Indeed, apologies to everyone there. Feel free to roll this turn and I'll try sort someone for the next.

Gaspar and I have a suggestion:
novice
Krill says you'll play a pb18 civ that matters?
Gaspar
That's overstating
novice
How about you become the pb18 hyborem instead that chaotically plays any turn that's about to be missed?
Gaspar
haha
novice
And then you can have your own spoiler thread where you ridicule their micro
That sounds pretty awesome
Gaspar
That actually does sound kinda fun
novice
Try it out by playing Q's current turn then?
Gaspar
I mean, not that I'd take any joy from insulting my peers or anything.
novice
of course not
You've always showed the utmost respect for your tiers, I mean peers
Gaspar
lol
Is this sort of thing approved by the players as a whole
novice
I'm pretty sure it will be hearily welcomed
*heartily
Gaspar
If I'm given carte blanche to take over for anyone who is about to miss a given turn, can keep a spoiler thread that even those players can't visit, have no expectation to read their threads to know what they're up to, and don't get stuck taking over for Qg, I'll do it
novice
deal!
I'll post this chat in the tech thread then?
Gaspar
Ok
I have to run.
