Sorry guys, my wife called me and told me there were power company trucks on the street and then the power went down. Thanks NOVEC co-op frown

I'll reload the server PC when I get home. I guess I really need to put the server + modem on my UPS, and may do that as well.

You don't have to apologize to us, it should be us thanking you for hosting it.

I can't emphasize this enough. Sunrise, you just became a father! We aren't important! Liberty is. Go spend time with her. You might not have time to in the future, so enjoy it while it lasts, and I hope time with the kids lasts as long as you live.

Maybe we should all just chip in for a generator on Sunrise's lawn... smile

Ok, IT update:

Bad things come in three, right? wink

So power went down yesterday as I posted, thought it was only out for a few minutes. I made it home last evening and internet was out, so I assumed the router needed to be reset, blah blah blah, usual stuff.

Unfortunately instead we have the next chapter in Verizon: A Cautionary Tale. As I've posted before, I love the performance of my Verizon FiOS service. I also love the expertise and customer service of tech support staff. Which is good because I have to call the $&#^$ tech support guys every month. I've never had a product that basically maintains near-perfect up time, but when it does stop working perfectly it requires a new 1,000 foot fiber optic cable run. Ir feel like if my desktop bluescreen'd and automatically needed the motherboard replaced. Or car goes too long without an oil change...cracked the engine block wink

So the newest issue is that fiber cable number four has been buried in my yard. The end of the cable is NOT yet hooked into my FiOS network terminal box. So far so good, except if you're not going to hook in the wire when you bury the cable DON'T CUT THE TEMPORARY CABLE IN HALF.

Anyways, tech is coming out today to fix the problem, so RBP2 and RBP3 SHOULD be up tonight.

RBPBEM4 I can play from work, probably in about three hours when my coworkers have left for the day.

Sorry to hear of your problems with a "premium" service, do you feel like a guinea pig? lol

I think I speak for all in saying we're greatful for you just hosting the damn game. thumbsup

Should a situation occur where the game is back online for the weekend and the timer is close to running to an end prior to Rome having ended turn I wish to use one of my pauses.

Verizon: A Cautionary Tale, Chapter 3 -

I said things should be fixed yesterday. That was based upon my conversation with a Verizon phone tech on Tuesday giving me an appointment for Thursday. The tech told me if I called back Wednesday morning when the dispatch office was open that I could request a "service override" and hopefully get a tech out that day. I did so, and was told no override appointments were available, but that I'd go onto the wait list and would get a call if an appointment opened up. Sure enough, an hour or so before I posted yesterday I got the call, made my post, etc...

No show.

So this morning I get the usual automated text message confirming my appointment (between 9:00am and 9:00pm - that's precision scheduling there!) and shortly thereafter a call from a tech saying he's on his way. I decide to be late for work so I can be home when he gets here, get the server back online, etc. Tech shows up, doesn't have the right part. By "part" I mean a "splicer" needed to affix the plug thing to the fiber cable. Apparently this part needed in literally every cable job is not contained in their full-size cargo vans. This tech tells me a new tech will come out with the splicer "probably today." I ask about the weird cable install, and tech tells me it's common to install the cable without the plug thing on long runs. I ask if it's also common to cut the existing working cable in half. "No, that would be a mistake."

I leave for work, and just got a phone update from the wife. There is now a tech in my driveway. This one also doesn't have the splicer. This time however the tech is waiting there until a third tech comes with the splicer, and I should have internet back...knock on wood...as soon as he arrives.

PS - Anyone have any experience calling up service providers and asking for a partial monthly credit? I'm tempted to do so because this isn't an outage or equipment failure. Rather a Verizon contractor drove to my house and cut my wire in two, and it's been several days and I still have no service.

RBP3 reloaded to DSP's login. WK/sockboy logged in after that, but I wasn't sure which name to use.

The civstats uploader isn't connected, and I'm not able to log in. Maybe you need to update the dyndns IP?
