I hadn't loaded up Civ V a single time in the last month except to play my turns in the RB2-SG since my late game Immortal OCC save glitched.
I loaded it up today, clicked enter 5-6 times, and got my victory. So they fixed whatever glitch that was at least.
My current plan is to run one ICS game on Deity just to say I've beaten Deity, and then return to play Civ IV full time. For me, since I just started on Civ IV in May (and BTS in July), that game has tons of life left in it. And I only recently bought a new laptop in August, so my prior desktop could only play Civ IV on the lowest of all settings. So just being able to run Civ IV smoothly at max settings is almost like it is a new game to me, even graphics wise.

Those who are expecting major reworkings of the city growth formula, how happiness functions, the benefits of city states, and so on are likely to be disappointed. Firaxis has stated that they would fix bugs and the small issues first, wanting to publish a first patch quickly before concentrating on the bigger things which probably take a bit longer. So up to now, they have delivered what they had promised and there's no need to be disappointed yet (besides the already discussed issue of not realizing the obvious problems before release date).
If they really manage to fix the core issues remains to be seen, but until now I'm still willing to hope they try at least.

Well it's not really, SI who publish the Football Manager series usually put out a patch on release day to fix up all the issues and data changes since the code is locked down. But to be able to do this requires a rigorous testing period, something Firaxis didn't contemplate doing.

Well, you certainly have every right to wait for further patches and see what happens. Been down that route before though, and it's incredibly rare to see a real difference. Much, much more common is to get the Master of Orion 3 / Hellgate London / Spore / Railroads! / Civ4 Colonization (etc.) ending where the base game more or less remains the same, and those who were waiting for the patch slowly have their faith eroded away.
Good luck with that! In the meantime, I'm going to be playing League of Legends.

Has anyone here tried playing a game where they just aim to make a few really large cities? It's nowhere near as powerful as the small city spam approach, but I think it's more fun.
