Turn played. No time to report, but we got visibility on Warlord's Graphs so I'll use some time to analyze them a bit later.

I'm pretty certain this is what Warlord has been doing:
* In the beginning power 2000 i.e. Hunting
* T9 Mining+Worker finished (power 4000)
* T12 Warrior (power 6000)
* T16 pop 2 (power 7000)
* T17 Warrior (power 9000)
So he has 2*warriors+Scout+Worker at this point.
He has been teching something with 20% bonus after T9 that is highly likely BW. He lacks Agriculture to improve his Corn and Rice. On T17 he also switched from working hill Deer to cows probably to speed up BW.
I've seen both warriors following the actions of my warrior so he hasn't been putting much emphasize on scouting.

1st dot map that obvivously might change based on the coming turns. With the silent friend close by I think we want maximum early usefulness over the long term potential so 1st cities are positioned close.

I'm not entirely sure on the reasoning for putting C1 so close other than getting everything up and running faster.

That is the exactly the point + safety issue. Furthermore we open the city spot 3 to plains hills that I think are best ones. If we try to get sheep to c2 then we would had to settle closer to Warlord on grassland hills that might even be impossible, if he comes agressively towards us.

I'm not sure why you are talking about C2, I'm just talking about moving C1 2W for canal + another food. We don't know who is over there but we should be quite able to defend it even if it is an extra turn away. The main issue is getting the workboat out slightly slower. However we'll be able to mine the plains tile as a result. C2 and C3 look fine to me.

Sorry. My bad. I should have read your post with more care. I'm not quite sure which is better. The closer city would be settled 2 turns before + get WB in about 6T whereas further city will need about 10T. Maybe that is not that significant. Had to think about it.

I think the 2W would be strictly better if and only if we don't need an immediate contribution out of it for setting up C2.

Not an easy desicion. The further city would be way better over the long run, but getting it up and running takes several turns more. I think after the essentials C1 would concentrate on producing workers/military. Depending on what Warlord does military might be needed to found C2 and especially C3. The positioning of Copper might force changes to these plans.
Worker finishes in few turns the camp. My main candidates for next action are
* mine a grassland hill west from capital. This is essential, if we take the closer spot since that hill could be used by that city to generate the WB
* farm the cows. At least 1 worker turn would be lost in this case and potentially 2, if we settle the further spot since it needs to move to mine the gold afterwards
