Do we really think we could bait him into an eastward move with his ionian fleet with the thought of getting something from Turkey? That seems to me to be a lost cause from Italy's standpoint. How would they keep it? That would smell more like a trap to me than asking them to go all-in against France would. If I were Italy I would be asking myself 'what's in it for A/G if they are asking for help with T, which they don't need, and I oblige them?'

From our standpoint, war with Italy might well get Austria some gains at this point but in the long term does it really help us when that gives E uncontested control of the western med?

Addendum: to be blunt, though, if Italy doesn't have some quick success against France this year, they are probably dead anyway and we will want to make sure we go through their pockets for loose change before E gets a chance to.

If we really want Italy for ourselves we probably don't have to actually do much; as it stands Italy is too unfocused to stand for long once the Turkish campaign is over.

Let's see, what can we expect from the builds?

England: 1 build: A Lon is obvious.
France: 0 builds.
Germany: 2 builds: A Mun, A Ber looks likely... Another fleet seems silly with an England and a Germany fleet already up north.
Italy: 0 builds.
Austria: 2 builds: A Vie and A Bud are the only possible ones.
Turkey: 0 builds (haha!)
Us: 1 build: A War is obvious, especially with two incoming armies.

And I'm not even sure what Italy can do that's productive. Ven-Tus and Wes-Lyo lets him convoy in, and he may be able to convince England to let him get Spain while he supports a fleet entering Portugal. But that's about it; Pie can't go anywhere, and the Ven army kind of needs to stay where it is. The Ionian fleet is too far out of position to help him claim anything.

A london is only obvious if E wants to press F with more than what he has. He might decide to go A Norway instead if he's going after StP.

Is that legal? I thought you had to only build in your home centers, although I don't recall where I saw that, so I might be wrong.

Mardoc's right. Builds have to be in starting centers.

That's an odd place for E to build. Are they trying to send us a message that they are not sending any armies against us, and are focusing mainly on France (for now), with that build? Of course their Sweden fleet is still going to cause problems for us.

I think Eng wants to keep their English Sea fleet available for use.

And I'm shocked that Germany went F Kiel. We would be in a LOT of trouble if there was also a Berlin army.

I was also (pleasantly) surprised by F Kie. I guess my lobbying paid off and maybe he is not 100% set on EG, or at least doesn't like the potential of being squeezed out between E and us.

Unfortunately I'm writing this from free wi-fi in Mcdonalds so I don't have a ton of time to write diplo letters lol
