Checking in!
Quarantine from despicable direct foreign influence: Online. Russia! Perfect! And agreed on the Black Sea being a vital location. I assume we will try to have an opening discussion with all 6 of our opponents? Even A-H, I see no reason not to seem friendly for the time being.
Ok, let's see: Lewwyn (England): Need to read up on his various games. He should be...interesting. Scooter: PBEM3 and PBEM7. Nakor (France): As I said in chat, "Indecisive." That is a terrible Diplomacy trait. Especially for France, who has several options. Uberfish/DC (Germany): Solid team, I think they'll be rather intriguing. Rowain (Italy): Rather unfamiliar with him. Amelia (Turkey): Looks like she may be cooperative. Good to know that she recognizes the value of the Black Sea. So, I assume that at least for the opening, we will not make any order-related lies: if we say that we're moving X to Y, then we're moving X to Y. Obviously a big backstab later may be worth it, but right now that credibility is far more valuable than any potential gain. For the moment, our orders are: F STP - (BOT? Finland and Bothnia are almost equivalent locations) A MOS - A WAR - F SEV - BLA One option, if we trust Amelia: MOS - UKR, WAR - GAL (expecting a bounce there): This is an all-in against Austria. Many other options, of course, exist. For new players, I'm using 3 maps at the moment to keep track of a) Abbreviations (Abbreviations) b) Supply Centers (Color Map) c) Starting Units (Opening)
Is Lewwyn A-H or is he England? Threads in Diplo forum says he is actually A-H, not England.
I guess the first thing we need to do is find out who is likely to be cooperative and not come after our supply points. Presumably we want to try and feel out who is likely to oppose us, if anyone, before we go all out against one particular opponent -- we don't want England sneaking in via the Barents and Norway while our forces are all occupied against A-H for instance.
Correct - we will corrrespond with all of our neighbors. Just like in Civ, good "across the map" relations can make or break the mid-to-late game.
I've actually gotten emails from everyone and will post them shortly
Okay here we go - not necessarily in the order received
