I don't know if there's any reason to agree on a NAP with Mackoti, but maybe there's a reason to place him next to LP

In all fairness, Luddite has also violated a LOT of agreements in this game... Probably more than Mackoti actually.
I think that has something to do with the nature of a pitboss game. All of them so far have involved some rather nasty disputes between players that went beyond the typical "he declared war on me so I'm angry" stuff.

I wonder how much of this has to do with the permanent nature of a Pitboss game? PBEMs go through natural breaks where you don't get access to the game for several days, so there's always a chance to walk away from the game when things get heated. Pitbosses don't have that luxury. Also, Pitbosses have more complicated rules than PBEMs. Double moves are a mess. PBEMs don't have that problem. PB3 HAD those long pauses, and for a game of its size, there were bound to be player issues (but Exploit was the only one there where it was personal, and he hadn't gotten a good vibe in the community from his PB1 time). The nasty rules disputes were a mess, but once they were over, player issues went away.
I think it is not the fact that it is a Pitboss game, but the fact that Pitboss games always seem to have the idea to cram as many players in as possible. The number of relationships in the game is equal to N*(N-1). More relationships means more chance for disagreements and controversy.
Civilization IV: 21 (Bismarck of Mali), 29 (Mao Zedong of Babylon), 38 (Isabella of China), 45 (Victoria of Sumeria), PB12 (Darius of Sumeria), 56 (Hammurabi of Sumeria), PB16 (Bismarck of Mali), 78 (Augustus of Byzantium), PB56 (Willem of China)

In PBEM10, the long breaks & slow pace of the game gave me a lot more time to be more rational and less angry over Serdoa's backstab of me. And most of the conflicts come from neighbor-neighbor conflicts, which should only scale with O(N), not O(N^2).
It seems there is self justification on both parties part... It looks like Mackoti was relying on LP to do something, presumably that didn't fit with LP.... Mackoti and Luddite have quite a lot of history, it is surprising that Luddite allowed himself to be caught out. I guess they are both right and both wrong to varying degrees.
