I'd also say the Clans Sons of the Inferno "rush" in PBEM V is quite successful. The partition of Mr Yellow in PBEM III could also apply. Ichabods crushing of Sciz and vassaling Dantski in PBEM IV as well.

I'm not lurking the FFH games very actively, which is why I added the question mark. smile
I have to run.

If FoL had been founded, I might have sent in less units while holding more in reserve. The fact that I was safe from this risk allowed me to focus all my units to the same target.

It's like the Elohim worldspell. Just the possibility of it is enough to stop many attacks.
But you'd face much smaller and weaker garrisons. So I remain unconvinced.

Nevertheless what lost me the game was planting a capital on turn 0 that could manage at best 4hpt before mining. I did not restrict my points, between this very poor initial decision, Rivers of Blood and stream of barbarians going my way I was just crippled before Archery and couldn't really go any faster afterwards. Especially given the fact I sunk hundreds of hammers into race to the pact I lost by 2 turns.

Not to take anything away from Ichabod, but I would like to say that PBEM4 was mostly me being extremely stupid. Had I kept my warriors in my capital, Ichabod would only be able to choke me while I built up warriors in the cap and finally chased him off. It would've crippled me, yes, but I wouldn't have died. However I misjudged the amount of tiles I could move in two turns, so I thought I could save my second city when I couldn't, and that obviously killed me.
